Do you mean you ate and drank nothing from evening weigh-in to morning
weigh-in?

no - i don't weigh at night. from one morning to the next morning .

Then 2.5 lbs is within the margin. If it happens multiple days in a
row, so that you establish a trend, then something is wrong, but 2.5
lbs over one 24 hour period could easily just be water/glycogen.

Yeah, that's part of TOM.

One day i woke up and was 2.5 lbs up. No way you can just gain that
overnight!!! So i started getting suspicious. I didn't change my diet in

any
big way. i went out to dinner one night and ate a piece of grilled

chicken
and some shrimp that could have been marinated in something. I don't thin
kthis would do anything more than stall me a little - not send the scales
through the roof!!

Here's a weird question: how often did you weigh before you went

low-carb?

Never. I just didn't. Maybe once in 6 months.

Because 2.5 pounds is within the realm of normal for daily weight

fluctuation
as far as I've read. And especially at TOM.

When I started, I already knew I had a monthly weight fluctuation of 3

pounds
directly related to my TOM. So I started at my peak to guarantee an

almost
immediate loss of 3 pounds. (I actually lost 8 pounds in the first 6

days.)
When I was losing, I'd gain 1-3 pounds at TOM, and lose the 3 pounds

again. In
maintenance, I gain and lose the 3 pounds. So what you're describing

sounds
perfectly normal.

Just let me know if I should relax and wait till after TOM to even look

at
the scale again.

Relax and wait until after TOM to even look at the scale again.

Thanks - at least i can pay attention and learn that this may be something
to expect.

It's water weight from your TOM. Relax. Stop weighing yourself everyday too.
You'll drive yourself crazy.

Poor Tom. He gets the blame for everything. ;-)

Yeah, he has to hang around for 5-7 days, make me irritable, and just be
generally useless. Just in my case. LOL!

I gain anywhere from 5 to 10 lbs during my tom. I like to use those days as
"rest" days from lowcarbing. I don't know if its the raging hormones but
it's the only time of the month where I can eat 1 piece of bread or a
handful of chips and not want more. If it's not my TOM I can't eat bread or
chips because it sends me into such a downward spiral.

Relax. TOM can do weird things water weight. I jumped up a
significantly higher amount (as much as 9 pounds) for awhile there - and
it usually happens when I'm in for a rough one. YMMV, and I hope it
does, but do NOT stress over this if you know you've been fighting the
good fight - it's just TOM.
