It explains it all! We are the "chosen ones".

A few weeks ago I was bragging I easily went from 181 to 168 pounds. I
kept it to 168 for three weeks, and went back to 181 pounds two weeks
ago... It all started with this pizza, lasagna I had when I went out
for dinner with friends. A few days after, I took the habit of
drinking cream sodas, my favorite! What made fat again? The
carbs!!!!!!!!

Yes, but the other half of the joke is that nature wants you to
survive long enough to reproduce to propogate the species, but then
cares not if you drop dead of a heart attack at 45. Overeating in
primitive man was likely very uncommon plus people didn't live so
long, but today we overeat daily and those overeating disorders
associated with obesity set in....diabetes and heart disease. Since we
have already had our kids by that time, nature has no more interest in
keeping us around.

That's not a funny joke!!! I'm 44 now. I'm considering pigging out
every day and never mind what people say. Do you think it will make a
big difference in the number of years? The only thing that stops me is
the quality of life. Pigging out will probably cause stuff like
stomach burns and cavities.

Along with the fact that exercise was what you did just to survive,
everything took effort, now nothing takes effort, we dont even need to
get up to change the channel.

This is Doug in Japan. I haven't posted in a while.

People who are long-time members will remember that three years ago I
started at 125 kg and then got down to a low of 78.8 kg over a year
and half or so.

I think I followed your progress. As I recall, I'm about the same
height as you and went from 93 kg to 77 or so, finished in April 2007.
Still there, coming up to two years soon.

Hard to tell for sure, but statistically, it would lower your life
expectancy. If you have an eating problem and really do pig out, you
could get to 350 pounds. Surely that would not help your self-esteem
either. I truly wish there were a pill we could take or somehow
magically not have half the calories count, but so far the only way to
do it is limit the eating. When you think about it, overeating is not
good in a lot of ways...regurgitation and other digestive problems,
dizziness, difficulty getting around, bending over, joint problems,
diabetes, heart trouble, relationship and emotional problems, buying
new clothes. It just goes to show you how strong the eating motivation
is, but when you stand back and look at it objectively, overeating is
not worth it. The good part is that once you decide to lose the wt.
then keep it off, it is just one day at a time, and although it is
difficult, it helps build self-esteem to know you can control
something as primal as lifting food and putting it in your mouth.

I have known the problems you're listing when I was overeating. I'm
choosing the heathy path.I'm going back immediately to my recent
successful weight-management strategy, meaning low-carbs. Thanks
again.

I bet if you check the calorie count, your calories skyrocketed. Also I bet
this stuff had a lot of sodium so you started retaining water once again.
Also bet you weren't drinking enough liquids so retained water again. It's
not the high carbs. I eat a lot of carbs and have had no problems dropping
67 pounds.

Take a typical day then and calculate out the calories. I bet it will shock
you.

I also stopped weighing every morning and stopped writing down
everything I ate and drank.

Very possible I ate more calories, or maybe not. I did not calculate.
But I know that the more carbs I eat, the more hungry I become.

By the way, I did lose 13 pounds in 2 weeks by increasing my calorie
intake by about 30%. The exact percentage is in one of my posts done a
few weeks ago. Virtually the only carbs came from apples and basmiti
rice. I did very well on just eggs, peanut butter, almonds, chicken,
fish, and vegetable soup, and lots of green tea and oolong. I kept the
weight off for several weeks until that Black Friday when I ate out.
I'm back on track. Doug's suggestion is the best: Lose the weight and
take it one day at a time. That's what I'm going to do. I will soon
start working 60 hours a week for several years to come, so I need to
be as in good shape as possible. Senseful nutrition will be essential.
I hope I won't lose my health in the process...
