Frozen Dinners
I'm getting ready to start my own form of South Beach with frozen
dinners. Has anyone else tried this? What do diehard South Beachers think of this? I'm going to eat three Lean cuisine dinners aday and eat the turkey wraps and celery and cheese for snacks. I'm also going to use other dinners for a variety, making sure I read the labels and check the carbs. Stay tuned I'll let you know how it turns out. I can't stand shopping for all this stuff in the S.B. book, I went on the diet before and I lost weight, but my fridge was full of stuff. My wife complained about cooking all that stuff too. Tdubya |

All the frozen "diet" dinners I've seen do contain carby foods such as peas, corn and mashed potatoes. They don't supply much meat as you can guess. They leave you hungry and feeling a bit empty. In my opinion they're better suited for a WW type program than a low-carb one. Stay tuned I'll let you know how it turns out. Hummm.... you'd think she'd be happy you're trying to lose weight, be healthy and LIVE. Perhaps you can cook your own meals then. Basic meals are easy to learn. Frozen Dinners
Why not just eat some Atkins bars and Shakes? Then, you won't need to
store all that stuff in your fridge. You can put it in your garage or in the trunk of your car (junk in the trunk)! Then, just rip off a wrapper and pop a top. I'd bet you'll lose weight doing that, too! Yeah, you don't need to read the Aktins book and/or cook any food at all. Shopping will be a beeze, as you can order that stuff online for good prices. See, I've solved all your life problems. You can sit in front of your computer and order, no cooking, and just eat Atkins food. Frozen Dinners
I think Tdubya has the correct analysis. Frozen dinners are made to be
very inexpensive, so the regular ones load up on carbs which are cheap compared to protein. The few that are out there, like the SB meals, are certainly better, but still don't give you as much of the good LC foods you could be eating and enjoying. You could be eating a decent size steak or really satisfying piece of real roast turkey breast instead of what is still at best a mediocre TV dinner. I think they could be fine on occasion, for convenience, as part of an overall diet. I've bought a few of the SB ones myself, when they were on sale. But I couldn't take making them the core of my diet for very long. |
