Default It's a New Year and the Fat Ladies are Singing

Just wanted to say "hi" -- it's that time of year when all the "new
folks" pop in.

I lost quite a bit last summer on Atkins -- was actually pretty
pleased with my progress. Quit smoking on 01 September and decided I
was just going to deal with that. Though it wasn't as hard as I
thought it would be, I did manage to gain my forty pounds back.
Despite doing LC holidays -- which isn't really that hard, I ended up
in the hospital right after Christmas and topped out at 254. So the
last six months have been "up and down" -- mostly up. But a lot of
good things have been accomplished, too.

I'm also working on doing more exercise, and I'm having fun with that.
I don't have much in the way of pictures. I've become pretty good at
avoiding the camera over the past few years. My Sweetie did find a
come from a couple of years ago that aren't too bad, so I might
actually have some "before" and "afters" one of these days.

So that's it -- been lurking with the occasional post here and there
for years, but figured I'd hang this sig out there. Not something I'm
particularly proud of, actually, and hoping it looks a hell of a lot
better come next Christmas.

I gained over 20 pounds when I quit smoking. I remember that I felt the
weight gain would be worth giving up cigarettes.

I found it next to impossible to lose that weight until years later when
I did Atkins. Then I lost the additional weight creepage plus the "no
smoking" weight increase.

Sounds like you are doing the right things.

Good luck, and let me hear from you as you keep plugging away.

Jim
