people who work full time, where do you fit in exercise
This is a question for people at a job 8 or more hours a day and can't
do it at lunch time? Do you find yourself tired after work and skipping it? How do you manage your time properly? Where do you fit in your exercise routine? |

I fit in at least some walking during the working day, then another chunk after supper if I haven't done 10,000 steps. I also do free weights at home 3 times a week. Everything needs to fit in with my job, ferrying the kids round, and my social life, so walking from my front door, and weights that live behind the sofa, are perfect. Of course you can feel too tired to do stuff when you get home - but if you can manage to drag yourself out, you do truly feel better afterwards! I don't work outside the house but Larry works fulltime and walks on
his lunch break. He has a cup of soup real quick before he sets out for his walk with either himself, with one of the people who works for him, or comes home and we walk together while the munchkin is in school. Sometimes if he is working out of town we walk as a family in the evenings after dinner. We always walk as a family on the weekends. Sometimes if its hard to get together we walk separately. We have been known to walk at the same time from different staring points and chit chat on the cell phones, meet somewhere and go our separate ways again. If you make it a priority and daily thing it just becomes part of your day naturally just like eating and using the restroom My days are pretty full with taking care of errands, school volunteering, being a landlord, some civic duties ( which I used to never do) but I always find the time to walk. One caveat for exercising at work: be PREPARED! This brings back a vivid memory of an experience I had once in the 80s. I was dressed nicely in a skirt and sheer blouse and decided to walk briskly around the track at work. I changed into appropriate shoes, put on some sunglasses and did 3 laps of brisk walking on a beautiful, warm day. Then went in, looked in the mirror and discovered, to my HORROR, two HUGE (not to mention stinky) sweat stains on the underarms of my blouse! Fortunately, we DID have a gym and locker rooms and even showers, so I was able to clean up and use the blow-dryer on my blouse after washing the affected areas, but I'll never forget my horror when I realized how compromised it would have been for the rest of the day! Where do you fit in your exercise routine? I try to get it out of the way in the morning. My husband has to be at work 1.5 hours before I do, so I get up with him and go to the gym. I can get in 45 minutes at the gym and be home with plenty of time to shower and get ready for work. And I feel more energized when I arrive at work and am less dependent on caffeine to get me started. Mathilda |

If I don't do it first thing, I'll get home at the end of the work day, decide I'm too tired, and never exercise!!!! |

Deciding to watch less TV can free up a LOT of time in most folks' lives. GG |
