Default Kimkins pics: she's huge & has lost her hair

Apparently, somebody put the cash out to hire a private investigator & take
some pictures of this Kimkins person. The pictures are posted on
slamboard.com. Whether this is real or not, I don't know, but it seems legit
to me. There are a three links in the article on this page
http://tinyurl.com/36z6dx (Jimmy Moore's blog) that lead to pictures of
Kimmer.

Assuming this is true, which aspect of the kimkin diet is responsible for
the hair loss?

I have been following this whole thing. I'm kinda ashamed of myself...
managed a whole lifetime of never being addicted to a soap opera, but
this one is compelling to me.

I think there's a 90%+ chance the pictures are real.

Worse than that is that many of her supporters, volunteers who spent
scores of hours every week posting to her board and admining and
moderating, have quit, including the 2 women who were in the WW magazine.

Assuming this is true, which aspect of the kimkin diet is responsible
for the hair loss?

It's highly unlikely she ever did the Kimkins diet herself - it looks
like "Kimmer" is entirely an online personality she created with no
correlation to real life. So no telling what caused her hair loss.

However, a lot of people who've tried the diet have experienced hair
loss, as well as other medical issues, which are apparently common with
VLCDs.

I suspect there's two malnutrition things commonly occuring with people
on her diets.

First being that eating the minimum RDA for protein and almost no other
calories means protein deficiency. The body will burn a lot of the
protein for energy and convert a chunk of it for glucose, leaving
nowhere near enough for use as protein.

Second, avoiding fat as scrupulously as these people do, I'd be willing
to bet quite a few of them are suffering malnutrition due to not getting
the essential fatty acids; I have theorized that the ones who do not get
ill on the diet are those who choose fish as their lean protein several
times a week.

The "survivors" are quite sad. They'll complain they tried to quit
Kimkins by raising their calories up to 700/day but are gaining weight
at that level. You can't get them to "hear" that it's probably just
that they're putting some muscle back on because they're malnourished.
They've become obsessed with the scale, nearly addicted to seeing the
numbers go down every day and panic-stricken if they go up at all,
regardless of why.

What I'd like to know is why is that person wearing those tight-assed sweat
pants? She obviously isn't working out.

Probably the only thing she could find to fit her.

Hopefully this whole thing will not have more repercussions with media etc
about the safety of eating the low carb way. She has always claimed this is
a low carb diet although it is low fat and low calorie.
Add in the fact that this woman has absolutely no medical knowledge and all
of her "Advice" was handed out with the objective of making more money for
herself.

This whole thing was a slick scam and she has made mucho money! After the WW
article came out she had people signing up at her pay to join site like
crazy. She offered a lifetime membership for 60 dollars and has banned many
members who have disagreed with some of the advice she has given including
to at least one teenager girl who was eating less than 500 cals a day.

She has set things up so that her moderators were in line to take all of the
blows and has refused to ever post real pics of herself. Using fake "after"
pictures including one of Jaqueline Smith.
Even now she still is denying those pics are of her, (she says they are her
business partner) However there appears to be enough information that says
the woman in the pictures is the same person who posted advice about this
diet on a forum board before she started her own site.

She advocated diet coke fasts and daily laxative use not to mention the fact
that many of the members were on 500 or fewer calories a day.

I recently listened to Kimmer on Jimmy Moore's Podcast, back when they
were
still speaking (doesn't seem like that anymore). She claims to hate
exercise and
not do very much.

The thing I love about people who are nuts is that they frequently
sound very sane
and calm. It's only when you dissect what they are saying that the
nuts comes
through. Kimmer on the LLVLC podcast (it's like an hour+ of
investment) is that,
in spades. She and Alan Keyes could get together. Andy Chung can be
their
cardiologist/minister.

Hi, Jackie --

I've been following it, too, and saw a few of your posts over there. I
haven't read it the last day or so -- with these new pictures, the
feeding frenzy is off and running and who can read all of that and
have a life, too? (I have to laugh when new people ask a question
that's already been asked and/or answered, and someone will tell them
to go back and read the thread! It's, what -- over 10,000 posts now?
LOL!)

I don't know if the pics are of the right person or not -- I tend to
think they probably are, but what has mystified me is the hypocracy at
LCF. They justify posting private emails and copyright violations
because they are on the "right" side.

I also find it interesting that the search for the "real" Kimmer has
consumed their lives for three months -- and yet no one seems
interested in the "real" identities of the people running the
anti-Kimmer blogs or telling the "survivor" stories.

When a question was brought up about the truth of some of the survivor
stories, the survivors were compared to rape victims. (And of course
we know they never lie. The Duke lacrosse players might have some
input on that?) That didn't make any sense at all -- but if you want
to get right down to it, rape victims are required to provide *some*
proof. They're insisting that you can't believe anything "Kimmer"
says, and she hasn't revealed her true identify and no one knows who
she really is -- but the people who are on their "side" aren't held to
the same standard.

And they insist Kimmer deserves what she's getting from this mob
because she's making money from her site. But somehow I doubt if she
gave free access they'd leave her alone.

The fact is, they didn't like her when she was at LCF, they like her
even less now, and the mods over there aren't following their *own*
TOC by allowing it to continue.

And that's another hysterical aspect of the whole lynch mob thread --
the participants are constantly trashing "Kimmer" for deleting threads
and banning posters -- and yet at the same time they get on their
knees and thank the LCF mods for "allowing" their anti-Kimmer thread
to continue. I had to laugh when I saw the pics. If they *are* of
Kimmer, then we've got a 300 pound woman selling diet advice, and
everyone's upset about that. I was censored for posting that I would
*not* buy a diet book written by a 300 pound woman! I guess my post
referred to the *wrong* woman?!

The whole fiasco is like a train wreck -- it's horrid but you can't
stop looking at it, although I must say at this point I've pretty much
lost interest. All the backslapping and self-righteousness is pretty
nauseating. Reading it now, I just shake my head and wonder who these
people are -- and would they like to receive the same treatment. I've
considered on many occasions posting to the thread, but I know it
would be a waste of time because it would be deleted.

I just wonder if the "gang" over there will ever take a serious look
at their own ethics in this whole thing. Everytime they're called on
their tactics, they insist that it's only because of their love for
all these poor "Kimbots" that they are doing the things that they are
doing.

I also had to laugh when one of the posters mentioned that the
reactions of the peeps on the Kimkins boards reminded them of 6th
graders -- I see that mentality on both sides, frankly, but if anyone
is justified in throwing a fit, it's definitely the Kimkins members.
Their posts to a *private* forum have been copied to a *public* forum
and taken apart, piece by piece -- can you feel the "love?" Then, of
course, we also have private emails being posted, too -- in some parts
of the world, that's illegal!

All of those involved need to take a good, hard look at their behavior
in all of this -- and hope against hope that they never **** off any
of their "buddies." They've already shown what they're capable of
when they don't like you. And this, friends and neighbors, is why you
don't post personal details on the internet. You never know when
someone might decide they just don't like you.

Just for the record, I don't have an opinion one way or the other
about Kimmer or her plan.

What I *do* have a definite opinion about is free speech and hypocrisy
-- and I truly believe that if I had posted this dissenting opinion on
the LCF board, it would have been deleted.

Yeah, I know -- blah blah blah blah --

I'm just glad I'm not Kimmer. Frankly, I'm glad I'm not a member of
"the mob" either.

People with eating disorders of Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia are known
to often have hair loss associated with their "malnourishment".

A former lady friend exhibited both Anorexia and Bulimia and was often
complaining of hair loss in the shower.

This hair loss appeared to continue after the eating behavior had
changed. Well, the complaining did continue.

Besides the thread on LCF, there's piles of anti-Kimmer blogs also.

It actually takes several hours a day to keep up with the latest on
this. I'm out of work due to recovering from my surgeries, I dunno how
the rest of the folks keep up with it all.

Well, not necessarily. One of my longest posts there was the one in
which I began by calling them all stupid.

The anti-Kimmer contingent is kinda hysterical, and not rational at all.
They use arguments that make no sense just as easily as they use
logical ones; it doesn't seem to make any difference to them.

They were complaining about Kimmer having said her diet was good for
diabetes - which she doesn't know much about since her site says her
diet lets you get off *both* Glucophage and metformin. Someone on LCF
claiming to be the mother of a T1 explained how her son would DIE if he
didn't eat enough carbs. The LCF gang went nuts about how Kimmer was
gonna kill diabetics!

I just snapped and told them they were all as stupid as Kimmer.

Just for the record, I don't have an opinion one way or the other
about Kimmer or her plan.

Oh, I do. I've seen the cult mentality in another context, which may be
why it fascinates me.

I find it strangely compelling. I am beginning to get why some people
watch soap operas.

The "Ask Kimmer" thread is even more fascinating. Reading her posts and
seeing how people responded to her, she's pretty obviously a very
charismatic sociopath, of a type I'm unfortunately familiar with from
elsewhere.

What I *do* have a definite opinion about is free speech and hypocrisy
-- and I truly believe that if I had posted this dissenting opinion on
the LCF board, it would have been deleted.

Not necessarily, there's been a lot of dissenting opinions. Or maybe
the mods just can't read it all.

You WILL get "spanked" if you use any naughty words though; I got busted
for that myself once.

For those who have lives and can't dedicate themselves to watching this
train wreck several hours a day, there's a decent summary that only gets
a few very minor details wrong he
