NYNY Week 3 Laura (LJ)

Making sure I drink 64-90 oz of water on days that I exercise helps moderate the fluctuations somewhat. Staying hydrated definitely helps with constipation. I'm drinking at least 3 24oz bottles of water before going to Curves plus at least 2-3 more before bed. That's a total of 120 to 144 oz each day. In addition to drinking enough water, I eat plenty of fiber so I am baffled as to what is causing the constipation. So far the only thing that has put me back on track is Metamucil 2-3 times a day. Thank god they have a sugar free version. There's another thing to be careful about ... too much metamucil. It is a good bulk laxative, but if I recall correctly it does state on the package that overuse can cause your system to totally rely on it. My husband was told by his doctor to use it one time a day (due to cholesterol problems) ... after a bit he found he was having problems. He cut down the frequency (now takes it maybe twice a week) and has no constipation problems at all. It took about a week for his system to get back to a normal daily routine. I'll remember that. I am trying to only use it twice a day. Some days I only remember to take it once. I switched over to Corectol (I think that was what it was called), might have been where I read the little blurb on the body becoming accustomed to it. I do hope it settles down for you soon, and I also understand your frustration. I seemed to hit the same snag at one point, didn't have an explanation at all but knew I was danged uncomfortable. I did something goofy ... ate a hugely high fat meal, topped with a sundae from a local dairy ice cream parlor (the REAL stuff) ... 45 minutes later I was running to the potty. LOL It made no sense to me at all. Maybe your body needs a little change? Joyce |

For the constipation, you may want to cut out the cheese from your diet for a bit - it is notorious for blocking things up ... might not be helping you. Rice is also a known *stopper* (as well as chocolate). grin Funny... chocolate has the opposite effect on me. If I haven't "gone" at night, I find this a very good excuse to have a piece of dark chocolate. Half an hour later all is taken care of ;-) So give me chocolate over Metamucil anytime! Garlic used to have the same effect on me. Not lately. Nothing seems to work anymore. My body has gone on strike. |

Laura, I've been thinking more about this (sorry for the length of time it has
taken me to reply). Is there any chance that you are taking vitamins that contain iron? I remembered that those were notorious for me, in totally blocking things up. I had to switch to a brand that contained no iron additions. Just one more thing to think about. grin Joyce On Mon, 27 Oct 2003 12:53:33 GMT, "Laura" wrote: "Nathalie W" wrote in message ... Good point. I am taking One a day's Weigt Smart vitamin but I have been
taking them since the spring. I would think if they were going to cause a problem it would have been early on. Something else is going on with my body right now. I just don't know what it is. My periods have been roughly 3 weeks apart. This month it finally arrived on day 31. So something is out of whack. I did get back to 219 so my extra 2 lbs are gone. I am hoping that overeating last week will break the stall. {I can hope, can't I?} "Joyce" wrote in message news Laura, I've been thinking more about this (sorry for the length of time it has taken me to reply). Probably, that is a long time ... unless you may have been slightly anemic and not have known it. I didn't have problems immediately with the extra iron, maybe took a month to 6 weeks before I noticed. But that still is a far cry from 6-8 months. Something else is going on with my body right now. Only lasted about 4 months though, then settled right back into the old routine. I do wish you luck in resolving this problem soon! joyce "Joyce" wrote in message news Laura, I've been thinking more about this (sorry for the length of time it has taken me to reply). Tomorrow is another WI and I expect to only be down 1lb. Still stuck at 210/220. This is getting boring. |

Oh boy. Hang in there Laura. I know it's tough now, but hopefully this too shall
pass. Kick that Dr. in gear to find an answer! Joyce On Thu, 13 Nov 2003 03:59:08 GMT, "Laura" wrote: "Joyce" wrote in message .. . On Sun, 09 Nov 2003 15:05:21 GMT, "Laura" wrote: Good point.
