Default Faced up to it again

hey folks,

Well, having chosen to avoid the scale monster last week, it was time to
face it again this morning. Again, the usual trepidation set in, and I
wasn't sure what to expect. This weekend involved cheese twice, both times
whilst I was out. I love cheese, but it's SO bad pointswise, and so hard to
guess at portion sizes, that even though I did point it, I felt bad about it
because I'm sure I did a bad job of it, and it only takes a little bit more
to make a whole point's difference! And when you're sitting there at the
end of a good meal, red wine in had, you do tend to nibble............ One
of those things I'm best off avoiding altogether I think.

However, after having felt (weightwise) a little up last week after the long
holiday weekend, I was feeling a little down this week, so although I feared
a gain, I suspected a loss. Result? I'm 0.2 up over 2 weeks, which I think
is pretty darned good and I'm more than happy with. Especially as I feel
like it's going down this week, so hopefully by next week that will have cut
in and I'll be back on the down again........

No cheese for me this weekend! *grin*
(bad cheese, naughty cheese........)

I could be the same with cheese, as you say best to avoid it altogether.
Good luck for next week

The DBF and I would have wine and cheese nights almost every week while I
was losing. Dinner consisted of wine (measured by the bottle ) and
assorted cheeses and crackers. I used to guesstimate them at about 20
points a night. Just so long as I made up for it during the week it never
caused me any issues. And yes, I lost slowly, but I certainly had a good
time while I was doing it! There's that balance thing again. Given your
maintenance over the two weeks I'd say you managed to balance things out
pretty well.

That goes for me too! I try to ration cheese to one meal a week, bit it
is *very* hard for a cheese mite like me! I do find that the low fat
hard cheeses are awful, though: no good for eating, and not much cop in
cooking! I'd rather have less of the real thing!

Being a fatty food, I find cheese keeps me on the straight and narrow:
too much (which isn't a lot in absolute terms!) goes through me like
greased prunes! (You didn't want to know that, did you? Tough! ;P )

I treat myself to a nice cheese & Mushroom omlet once a week. I use two
eggs, but only one yolk. 20g of the cheese of my choice, mushrooms, onion
and a few herbs. It makes a very tasty meal with salad.

My DH and I have shrimp cocktail and champagne nearly every weekend evening
before dinner. It's seven points for my share of the shrimp and my half
bottle of champagne. And absolutely worth every point.

OK, the shrimps have a lot fewer points than chees. But if our weekend
treat was red wine and cheese, I'd find a way to encorporate that into my
program. Life's too short to forego its little celebrations.

Good luck next week.
I have to freeze cheese if I have it in the house. I can't look at a
lump of cheese in the fridge and not eat it. When it's frozen you
can't nibble, but you can still grate a bit to put on a fish pie or
pasta!

I'm not saying that I can't have cheese - it's just that it uses so many
points and there are so many things I love to spend my points one. I'd
rather have a couple of glasses of wine than one measley piece of
cheese......*grin* I did point it, and incorporate it, but it's so easy
to get wrong (we were eating out)........... Believe me, I do have my
treats and so on

Thanks Julie - I'm feeling pretty good about it really, and a little
relieved that it wasn't worse - maybe I guesstimated those points ok after
all.......

Thanks Jen!
I usually have a principle that a tiny taste of something is ok.......but
with cheese, tiny is still pointful! *grin*
