During my daily run I've seen people stop their car at the bottom of their
driveway grab the garbage can with one hand and roll it along with the car.
Now that's lazy.

Cool! Even DH hasn't thought of that one :-).

No, I've never even considered it. I don't really have serious loose
skin problems. There's a little sag here and there -- mainly in the
inner thighs and at the bottom of my butt, but really not any worse
than the average woman my age (58) who hasn't lost any weight. I
suppose if I were younger and wanting to strut my stuff in a bikini I
might look into it, but then you have scars, so I don't know if it
would be worth it even then.

I don't really know what accounts for the fact that I've had less
problem with loose skin than some others. I expect some of it is just
the luck of the genetic draw. I've also had people suggest that it
relates to exercise and weight lifting -- I do a fair bit of it,
though I don't know why that would be. Also, my excess weight was
pretty evenly distributed, not primarily in a huge belly, so I didn't
end up with any sort of "apron". All in all, I'm pretty happy with my
body as it is.

I've often considered it. I have jiggly deflated belly that is left
over from three pregnancies. Other people seem to shrink, I just
deflate. My skin DOES hang like an apron, but worse than that, it
bounces around when I run and sometimes hurts my lower back. My lower
belly needs a bra far worse than my chest does!

I'm exploring plastic surgery options. I doubt I'll do it - those three
kids need an education - but I'm certainly interested in discussing it.

Couldn't you wear compression shorts of some kind? That sounds painful.

I usually do, or wear underwear that fits in such a way to smoosh it
right in the middle which sort of pins it down. But some outfits just
don't work that way. My triathlon outfits, for example, allow me to
swim and bike in the same outfit but it's not great for running for this
reason.

The other problem is when I'm going to be out in public: I hate to be
wimpy and not jog just because I'm not wearing compression shorts, and
the sight of me in compression shorts doens't mix well for being out in
public.

As you might have noticed, this isn't a "hold your hand while you
cry about how hard it is" kind of place. This is more of a "kick you in
the behind when you come up with a bunch of excuses" kind of place. If
you need a place that is more the former, may I suggest some other diet
base support venue, such as a web based venue? Try
http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/index.php? for starters, they actively
discourage people from expressing negativity.

Personally, I think that you might do well by listening to the advice
the regulars are giving you here. Is it tough? You bet. Is it fair?
Perhaps not. But really, would you rather have your hand held for you,
or would you rather learn what you actually have to do to lose weight
and keep it off? It really is your call.

People will bend over backwards to NOT have obesity be their own fault.
Implying that it IS their fault is the height of cruelty when they're
fighting so hard to deny it.

Being ridiculed when you're being ridiculous isn't fun.

But then, neither is losing fat. But I don't see any other way to do it
than to stop being ridiculous and face the fact that you're the only one
who did this to yourself and you're the only one who can UNDO it.

Have you looked at the Under Armour under garments? I think they make a
pair of compression pants suitable for wearing under regular shorts, etc.
I have some of their ColdGear I wear for winter biking and love it.

Nah, don't lump Neil in with Queen. He's one of the good ones.

Just set a filter for Queen, and she'll simply disappear from your
news reader. And after that, all her time spent typing on the
keyboard trying to insult you will be for nothing.

Annie, I am listening to advise. But some people are not posting advise,
just remarks. That is not helpful any way you cut it.
