Default Exercise high

If I didn't experience this, I would not believe it. Intellectually, I
know that exercise improves mood, but the experience of it is so much more
intense than expected. After I didn't work out for over a week, and now
that I'm back into it, the difference in my mood is quite noticeable. I
caught myself smiling this morning and actually looking forward to going to
work, and every step I took felt like I was bouncing, and I stopped for a
second and said "Why am I so happy today when I was so crabby last week?"
and then I was all "Duh. I've been going to the gym again." It doesn't
just improve my mood immediately after a workout, it seems to carry through
even to the next day. Love it.

Damn straight! I wish everyone could experience that! I'm going to
experience it again in the early am provided it's not raining

The endorphin-release is so addictive! Also, sweating in & of itself feels so
cleansing, not to mention the psychological sense of accomplishment. Oh, &
let's not forget the actual physical results - those are always kinda nice.

Why let the rain stop you? Go anyway, with rain gear of course.

Yes exercise, dieting, sex, all those good things make us feel great! The
trick is to not get depressed and fall back into old habits, when life
doesn't go the way we want.

I don't have any yet...and being wet for 2.5 hours or longer is no fun....
Plus, riding in the rain gets everything so dirty....I could not believe
all the places that dirt got the last time I went out. Naw, I'm only going
to ride in the rain when I have to...If it's raining tomorrow am, I'll just
go to the gym and deadlift

Yes exercise is a strange thing. I know I feel better when I do it and most
of the time I like going to the gym or lately I have been cycling and really
love that. I will say that for some reason there are some days I just don't
want to go work out. I know I will feel better if I do it, but I don't.
Fortunately that doesn't happen very often. I work out at least 4 days a
week, usually more. I am going for a nice bike ride tomorrow and I just
can't wait! I have a 60 mile ride on Sunday and that is going to be so fun.
The better shape you get in the more fun it seems to be.

Keep up the good work Michelle. It is great to hear you are enjoying your
workouts!

Geez, three bike riders that do low carb. I didn't know you were on here
Pat in TX. I have had some good discussions with you on the cycle ng. Now,
I suppose I should say, how are you going to breath fresh air in this
country? Calm down everyone, it is an inside joke.....although where I live
it is true. To many Excursions and H2's around here to have clean air, let
alone all the coal burning energy plants!!

Exercising releases the same endorphins in your brain as the things that
make you feel good.

Chocolate
Sex

are two examples.

It is a proven fact that if you exercise 3 times per week you are less
likely to fall into depression...and if you are in a depression it can help
you get out of it.

I am a Certified Senior Fitness Instructor.

It also helps increase your circulation. Which is good for anyone who is
overweight.
