Default Help: I do not lose weight with Atkins diet.

Dear all:
I am a man 55 years old, physician, and I am doing the Atkins diet
from 22 days ago, without having lose neither gained weight.
My height is 165 cm (5,41 foot) and my weight is 80 kg (176,37 pound).
I don't suffer any illness, neither allergies to medications. I don't
smoke, and I occasionally drink a glass of red wine mixed with mineral
water. I have a sedentary life. In my last blood analysis done the
same day that I began the diet, I only had lightly raised the level of
total cholesterol.
I have followed the diet according to the instructions given in Atkins
web page, and I have from the first week ketonic bodies in the urine,
but I do not lose weight.
I ask you for help on the conduct to follow. Should I insist a little
more yet, or the diet won't give results in me?
Thanks you in advance for any suggestion in order to know what to do.

Default Help: I do not lose weight with Atkins diet.

I recommend buying the book and reading the first 12 chapters.

Have you noticed any change in clothing fit?

Did you make physical size measurements before starting so you can tell
if you are converting fat tissues to more desnse muscle tissues located
elsewhere on your body?

Atkins recommends a battery of blood and analytical tests. Did you take
them? Are there any changes?

You might enjoy a book by Rob Thompson MD "The New Low Carb Way Of Life"
ISBN 159070315.

He cautions that there are people with a fat metabolism condition who do
not respond well to the standard Atkins type of low carb diet.

What diets had you tried before, and what kind of responses did you have?

Jim

Eating too many calories or eating salty foods are two things that come to
mind.
Without more information there's no way anyone can give you a more specific
answer. Post what you're eating and drinking *with amounts* and don't leave
anything out no matter how insignificant it seems to you.

The key to Atkins is the phrase "eat enough to satisfy". If you eat
too much, you won't lose weight. The first two weeks are about
adaptation, calories don't matter then, but after that they DO matter
and you should be careful not to overeat. Count calories, post a list
of what you eat (weigh or measure everything), and don't be
discouraged yet.
