Half a pound of mayo is 1600 kcals. How did you make this, and how
many calories are really in it? I've found that things like mayo,
oil, and cheese add up faster than I realize.

9Pm (LOL) dinner at a steak house I had a porter house for 2 and

Why not porterhouse for 1? You're not two people.

today, no breakfast

Spreading your calories throughout the day helps with appetite
control, too.

What do you think? Too many calories.....

Either use Fitday or http://www.delorie.com/health/ns/ to figure out
for yourself how many calories you're eating. Without measurements
(weights or volumes) we can't figure out calories for you.

Um, it said "or" between each of the three alternatives.

Still, 200g is about half a pound (8 oz) which is a bit excessive
anyway.

Duh! I misread. I was thinking, over a pound of meat at one meal? Is
that possible? Eight ounces might not be too bad. I ate five hot dogs,
about 800 calories for lunch today. That had to be close to 8 ounces, if
not over. I'll probably eat close to 8 ounces of meat tonight (I'll weigh
it, if I remember) for dinner. It all depends on exercise and body
composition.

Default Help: I do not lose weight with Atkins diet.

(Algarrobo) wrote:
Dear all:
I am a man 55 years old, physician, and I am doing the Atkins diet from
22 days ago, without having lose neither gained weight. My height is 165
cm (5,41 foot) and my weight is 80 kg (176,37 pound). I don't suffer any
illness, neither allergies to medications. I don't smoke, and I
occasionally drink a glass of red wine mixed with mineral water. I have
a sedentary life. In my last blood analysis done the same day that I
began the diet, I only had lightly raised the level of total
cholesterol.
I have followed the diet according to the instructions given in Atkins
web page, and I have from the first week ketonic bodies in the urine,
but I do not lose weight.
I ask you for help on the conduct to follow. Should I insist a little
more yet, or the diet won't give results in me? Thanks you in advance
for any suggestion in order to know what to do.

Hi Doc, if you really are a physician then why do you not know these
things?
Sedentary lifestyle, I assume, means no exercise. Are you retired or do
you just not have any patients? No exercise means no weight loss!
Evidently you didn't read Dr. Atkins book.
Being in Ketosis is the very best appetite suppressant, you may even
forget to eat, you're never hungry. So eating less is what happens...and
weight loss is inevitable. Why am I telling you this? If you had read
the book, you would know this. Likewise, if you are a real doctor you
would know this.
If you are for real, then something is dreadfully wrong. Others in the
group are more knowledgeable and been here longer than I have. I'm sure
you can get help from them.
My advice is don't give up yet. I was stalled and wanted to quit, but
am glad I didn't 'cuz I have lost three more pounds just this past week.
The advice they kept giving me was, "Eat less and exercise more" and
it worked!!!

Depends. IMHO 4oz/meal or so is ideal; you can always have more later
if you're still hungry, but you want to give yourself time to see if
that's "enough to satisfy your hunger" before eating more.

PP says a serving is a piece the size and thickness of the palm of
your hand; that's about 4oz.
