I agree...of course I have a bro-in-law who said that I shouldn't cry every
time I mention my dad (and that was about 6 mos after he died) ....I love
my DH's family...not.

I am so sorry for the loss of your cat. That and the anniversary of your
father's death are more than enough to set off an eating binge so it is
good to hear that you are not doing that. As the weeks go by, you'll
feel better.

I did not make WI this morning but would have been down a couple of
pounds by my scale. My constant companion cat that I've had for 16 years
(I adopted her from a shelter and they think she was about one year old
when I got her) died last night just after 11pm. Last night was also the
5 year anniversary of my dad's passing so Jan 5th is officially a suck
day! Instead of eating away my grief I don't feel too hungry. But I just
couldn't get up to go to WW or the gym this morning so I'll have to give
myself some time and then make an effort to get back to the gym.
Hopefully I'll be at least up to do a little DDR on the PS2 in a day or
so.

I'm sorry about your kitty, I know how you feel.
My almost 18 yo cat is scheduled for surgery next Monday for a "growth"
on her belly. I'm so worried that she won't make it, she's been my baby
since she was a tiny thing. Some people say it's only an animal, why would
you spend that kind of money for surgery, have it put to sleep. I can't do
that,
she's healthy otherwise even though she's old. It's hard to even write this,
I
start crying.
I hope things get better for you.

Thanks. Mine had a growth (boobie cancer) that I had looked at when I
discovered it in the summer. Unfortunately it was fairly extensive and the
consensus by 2 different vets was that the surgery would more than likely be
too hard on her (she had a couple of other health issues) so I decided to
not do it. The one vet said I should put her to sleep but she wasn't
suffering so I decided to hope for the best and hope she'd be around for a
while. Money was never an issue for me or DH about it. I still wonder what
if I had opted for the surgery but I got another 5 months with her.
Thankfully she didn't appear to suffer and I didn't have to decide whether
to have her put to sleep. I had to do that to a cat of mine that was 7 quite
a long time ago and it just about killed me. I take alittle solace in that
she died with me laying next to her comforting her. Now I'm crying. :-) I
hope your baby's surgery goes well. Please let us know.

Thanks Gary. I like to think that my dad was up there waiting for her. He
lived with us the last 6 years or so of his life and he was very attached to
her as well.

I opted for exploratory surgery for Miss Violette and she went to the bridge
from the surgery table. The vet I have said that she was sure she was not
helpable but after discussion she gave me possibilities and when we decided
for the surgery she had me sign PTS papers before the surgery, I feel good
about the decision, and always remember, you made the best decision for the
cat and that is what matters, Lee
