Default Food & Exercise update

Well, guys just checked my weight this morning I am about 159lb. My
starting point was 220.

So far as most of you will remember I have been doing the walking
thing (walk to lose weight) program. I am not into any diet, although
I am avoiding suger stuff (as best as I can), and to some degree red
meat. However, when some idiot brings at home than I just have to have
it and not just plate!

Samething for cookies; outsize I can avoid it to some degree, but
something it is really hard. I once had the urge to eat someone else
cookies!!! I really love those cookies

Another thing I am thinking about; eat uncooked veggie in afternoon,
however, my family is not very supportive (they are filthy meat
eaters!). I will have to get my own place ASAP!!!

My jeans size is 34, although I am still wearning size 36 :-) It
started with 38 -- although I did have some size 40...

Not much is going on in my personal life, expect I am foucing on
getting my own place, cause I can not take this BS. I mean its really
depressing sometime but I try not to let it get to me.. Also this part
of Toronto is a ghetto. Highest killing & raping rate in entire
Canada!

I promised (at least to myelf) that like Chris I will posts here every
week or so. Well, I won't be able to do that -- at least not until I
get my own place. Right I am making sure that I don't gain weight, and
lose it...

Alisha,

Good report/sad report!

All I would comment on is walking doesn't provide any upper body workout.
Maybe add something like a few reps of wall push ups a couple times a week?

Best,

Andy

I just joined the gym, and I would like to try that. My main problem
(weight wise) is the lower body. I have big fat legs, and of course
the belly. And I think there is big fat on my fat too...

Belly fat, according to which report you read, somehow presents a greater
risk of some cancers and diabetes.

All I CAN say is if you join a gym, don't take any "army-commando drill
sargeant" crap from any trainer!!! You will get hurt fast! Work out within
your comfort level.

On the other side of that coin I joined L.A. Fitness and they signed me up
and basically let me run loose to figure it all out on my own. You will get
hurt fast! I didn't stay long.

If I didn't have the home equipment, I'd probably join the YMCA to use the
swimming pool.

I'm not a fitness expert so google around for "simple home exercise" for
other ideas.

Best,

Andy

That's a bummer about the gym. I know many people don't like Bally's but
it's about the only thing in town so I joined it a couple years ago. The
first three visits I worked with a trainer who showed me all the

equipment
and outlined a starting program for me. Now it I would just use that
membership a little more I'm planning to use it after I retire this
year.....we'll see how that plan goes.

Beverly

Beverly,

The "trainers" basically wanted a fee to show me the ropes. Otherwise it
seemed like they were just paid to socialize and put weights back on the
shelves, restock the handiwipes, etc.

That and I didn't want to get sick from all the heavy breathing and
sneezing and coughing of members circulating their germs in the air. I have
the same problem at the supermarket, to be fair.

The lady who singed me up for gym wanted me to get a trainer, however,
I declined. I would like to figure out on my own, and to be honest I
didn't want to pay $250 bucks So far the only two equipments I am
using are; Treadmill (walking & jogging), and the bike thing.

At sometime in future, I google up for some exericse, and I will
borrow some book from library. My favorite exercises are walking, and
bike though It could be b/c I have not tried others :-) I really
want a straight belly, and "normal legs".

I have had noticed that I am a slow learner, it might be due the
enviroment where I have been living which affect my ability, dunno. In
any event I won't rush myself into anything. Right I trying get a
place so I can live on my own, at the moment I am living with my
relatives, and exercise is not their thing, and their eating habit
makes my situation very hard...

PS: I used to wear size 36 pants, and now I wear size 34 pants, even
they're bit lose. I am not sure how far down I want to go. My desire
weight is 146. I am 5'6 or 5'8, weight 160 (used to be 220), and age
31.

The first three visits with the trainer were free. They wanted money

Beverly,

Have you gotten more proficient in cycling across narrow path bridges like in
or around Valley Forge, PA, iirc?
