Default HOW OFTEN DOES ONE STEP ON THE SCALE?

I was weighing every AM and again each PM but I felt disscouraged today.
I felt control to watch the scale but I'm wondering what others do? How
often?

I don't weight myself. I can't handle that kind of pain and agony in my
life.

Seriously though, once a week is probably just about right.

Cheers!

Alex

I officially weigh once a month at the gym but I usually step on the home
scales about twice a week. I always weigh first thing in the morning. I
never jump on the scales in the evening as what I've ate for the day may
have a drastic impact on water weight. Eating something high in sodium can
cause a water weight gain for a couple of days.

gloria,
if you MUST weigh yourself daily, then try to do it, once daily, the
same time each day, and write down the result.
then after one week (7 days) add up all the weights, and divide by 7.
this will give you a weekly average, which will be much more accurate!

What's a scale and why would I want to step on one?

Each morning, out of curiousity and to spot trends - weekly for record
keeping. Sometimes at night if I'm feeling particularly bloated to decide
if I need to drink more water before bed to help purge. I measure every 4
weeks since those results mean a lot more to me, especially these days.

My approach is to weigh myself each day that I go to the gym, as their
scales are very accurate and consistent. I record my weight weekly in
my spreadsheet, and what I record is the lowest reading I got during
the week.

I weigh myself on Friday or Saturday at the gym's scale and record that
once a week, too. I don't cherry pick numbers through the week: the
number I get at the gym is the number I put in my spreadsheet at the end
of that week. (I did, however, re-weigh myself AFTER the sauna and pick
THAT number today.) :-) I definitely pay attention to the overall trend
from month to month. With my cycle I often find I really only show a drop
in the scales during the week I get my period.

I don't usually admit this, but I also weigh myself at home on an
inaccurate scale nearly every morning. All it does is confirm
whether or not I'm retaining water, if you ask me. I never pay attention
to the absolute number. I know it's wrong. I just do it in case the
whoosh fairy came by and it would give me an early warning. :-) (I guess
that puts me in the "grain of salt" category.)

Ron ,PLUS otthers, Do you just go by the pants size? This is vey powerul
but I think MANY compulsive eaters also do the scale EVERY SINGLE DAY! I
have asked MANY thin people WHEN do they weigh and MOST don't own a
scale at all. I seemto place my scale where my eating once was a master
of mine. Sad but true.

If I were consistently thin i wouldn't even have a scale or a nutrition
tracker or alt.support.diet. And i wouldn't have pants just tight
skirts high heeled shoes with platforms and those net stockings Rosie
hates!

I do it daily, too. Now I make an adjustment according if I've
already had my bowel movement or not. Mine averages 2 pounds! (Aren't
you glad I shared?)

There's no point in doing it more than daily. Your weight fluctuates
throughout the day due to water and food that you take into your body. If
you weigh yourself each day, there will still be fluctuations, but if you
make it the same time each day, you can reduce the effects.

A lot of people prefer even to weigh themselves weekly. But I'm a daily
man.
