I would however frown on any doctor who jeopardized the health of his patients by smoking in his office. Yes. of course.. but I guess I showed my age... this was forty years ago and it was "before" any reports had come out which associated smoking with disease... You either smoked or you didn't. I am not saying there wasn't doctors who claimed smoking wasn't good. But the Surgeon General didn't issue any statement on it. I think that was in the early 60's and before that diseases from smoking was just a theory and not a proven fact. Monte |

Dr. Phil
I have been reading this thread with interest. I have struggled most my
life with weight, and in fact lost thousands of pounds if you add it all up. I know how to lose. I went from 365 to 200 something in the 1980's and stayed in the 200 somethings from then until Feb 2002 when I got ready to lose the rest. I could have told Anyone how to lose. And even how to stay at a "better" weight. From personal experience as well as knowledge gained from reading and trying pretty much everything (except surgery) I did not try to give out advice, because I felt I was not credible, as I was not a normal weight. I don't intend to give out any advice now either until I have maintained my loss for a while. Well, let me say this, I don't plan on making a Career out of advising people. I do plan on working in the bariatrics field when I have to go back to work some day (right now I am stay at home caregiver/nurse for my Ma with alzheimers) By then I will have maintained this loss long enough to BE credible. I think Dr Phil is ABSURD, with this weight loss stuff. Anyone could put together the opinions in his book, some which are well known and valuable, and some which are complete horse pucky. He has no clue what goes on with morbidly obese people. Lesanne (365)HW(247)Feb 2002(163)now, normal BMI |

You weight lost diet and ho3 you can maintain the ideal weight for yourself are two different issues. I think anyone who has lost one hundred and sixty five pounds has some "How to diet to lose weight diet" knowledge that many here might find very benefitual for them to read about. As to learning how to maintain your weight when you get there, that is alright too. You can refrain from talking about it. But then you might learn something from someone here about how you might be able to do that and we can support your efforts if you post them. You will get much more from this group if you join in and share your diet journey with everyone. I hope you do.. Monte |
