I am so disgusted with myself!!
I am so disgusted with myself! I want to get from 198 down to 170-175
again. BUT I CAN'T !!! I JUST CAN'T DO IT!!! I don't eat right. I don't excercise!! I am lazy!! I am soooooo pathetic!! Why can't I get back into shape!!!!!!!! |

Lots of people here have lost a lot more than the 23-28 pounds you want to lose. We got off our butts and went for a walk. Some of us bought gym memberships and go workout. We do it. We bike, hike, run, ski, swim, lift weights and on and on. We find something that we enjoy or at least we enjoy the benefits it brings enough to make the effort worthwhile. Because you don't eat right or exercise!
The bigger question is why? I have a confession. I am lazy, too. The thing is, over the years I have learned that working out is worth the effort. I may have very little energy initially if I have gone without working out for a period of time but when I am in shape, I have more energy than ever. And it really doesn't take more than two weeks to really start noticing the added energy of a daily workout! One thing to note: As long as you regard yourself as pathetic, you will be pathetic. When you mention that you just can't do it, you are convincing no one but yourself. I would love to see you hang out around here and come to a different approach to weight loss and health. You will never succeed with a fatalistic attitude. When/if you want to do it you've got all the tools. Since you haven't decided to eat right or exercise, may I suggest that you take this over to the fat-acceptance group? Joining a gym doesn't imply you actually went and did the work you needed to do and trying to eat right doesn't imply you actually did. There isn't anything anyone here can do to help you. Well, it looks like you have done everything you were supposed to do. Alas, it is not your fault. You most likely have a 'slow metabolism' or something. j Julianne's messing with you. It *is* so much your fault still. So, you "joined" a gym. Did you actually lift any weights and work up a sweat doing cardio or did you sit on a recumbent bike and peddle at 1 mph while reading a magazine for a bit and then leave if you bothered to show up at all? You "tried" to eat right. Did you read any books on nutrition/dieting and try to follow a plan that seems sensible to you or did you just think that if you ate a salad once in a while instead of a big mac that the weight would come off? Most of us have had to experiment with our way of eating (WOE) before we figured out what was right for us that would cause the weight to come off slowly. Some do low-carb, others just do sugar-free and low calorie. BTW, the level of calories that you should be consumed should be 8-10x your current weight to lose. I have to do 8x because of my age/female state. Start at 10x and adjust downward after a week or so if you didn't lose a pound. Just how old are you? No matter how old you are, I'm sure there is someone here who is older and is losing weight or has lost down to their goal weight. I'm 45++ and it's not easy at all when you're sliding into the change but I've lost 30 pounds in the last six months which was my mini-goal and will lose another 30 in the coming 5-1/2 months and then the last 30 pounds in the six months after that. Stick around and you'll learn something. Better yet do a google and read back a few months of older posts. I think that you'll find that we struggle with the same issues that you have but we don't give up and we figure out how to overcome our obstacles. Good luck, Tonia |
