(Of course, some
of those symptoms could also be perimenopause.)

I blame *everything* on perimenopause these days! LOL

There IS that tendency, isn't there? Those symptoms can be rather
widespread.

Hi Kira

I will be traveling to Germany next May for a few weeks. Do you find it
difficult to eat out and stay on plan? I know we will be eating in restaurants

That would depend of course, on which restaurants you will visit. If I
go out to eat, it is mostly either to a Steak House or to a chinese
restaurant, and especially in the first ones it is very easy to stay
on plan. But also in other restaurants they will surely have something
for you (most restaurants I know have *large* salads with chicken or
turkey on them on their menues, for example), but I don't think it
will be a problem if you ask that they substitute the potatoes or the
rice for some other vegetable.

for weeks, and I don't speak German, so I'm hoping to stay on plan as much as
possible, unless I can convey my dietary requests. Whenever I'm in Europe, I'm

To what region will you be travelling? Most Germans speak at least
rudimentary English. In the larger cities you will find a lot of signs
in English. People will be delighted though if show a willingness to
learn a bit of German, even if it is only to say that you don't speak
it well.

so taken with the yummy breads and sweets, I know it will be difficult. Good
thing I'm not a beer drinker!

Yes, I found it is very difficult to find lowcarb snacks, sweets or
drinks here, unfortunately, so maybe you should bring some along with
you.

Hi Ina, welcome to the group! That is my former mother-in-law's name, too (I'll
try not to hold it against you, though :-)

Lol. What nationality is she and how does she pronounce it? Mine is
pronounced Eena.

Welcome, and good job, Ina. Do you have any low-carb products
there in Germany, or do you have to cook everything yourself?

So far I have not found any pre-made lowcarb products like bars or
shakes etc. I eat a lot of frozen mixed vegatables though, with fresh
beef or chicken, and as snacks I would take salami or cheese or
peanuts, or if I want something sweet, quark with something
Splenda-like and baking aromas. My practitioner of chinese medicine
asked me not to eat too much milk-products however, so I pretty much
drink tea all day long now, to tickle my taste buds.
