Default Favorite Low Carb Snacks?

What is your favorite non-prepackaged low-carb snack? I'm looking for
fresher foods, not the very highly priced Atkins or Carbolite type foods,
but normal foods you buy and prepare at home.

I've gotten kind of tired of cheese sticks and celery stuffed with cream
cheese or peanut butter. I'm still trying to lose - not yet on maintenance
so I need to be especially careful. I don't have a sweet tooth, starch was
(well, still is) my favorite food group. I'm looking for things that are
crunchy and salty.

I know what you mean, Virginia.

Sometimes I have a small piece of leftover chicken (like a chicken leg).
If you like sardines (I do!), you could eat a few from a tin, and
refrigerate the rest. Cold cuts (meat) are good, too.

You could try different kinds of cheese for some variety.

A hardboiled egg; make it into a deviled egg if you want.

Cucumber rounds, zucchini sticks, or green bell pepper strips dipped in
low-carb dressing.

I don't get too hungry between meals when I'm low-carbing for a while, so
this isn't a huge problem for me, but it is handy to have alternative
snacks when the munchies hit.

Good luck,
Anne

Yeah, but with all the jelly smears, aren't they high carb?

Microwaved pepperoni, La Tiara taco shells (1 carb each).

Gotta watch the salt with those things if you're prone to retaining water..

Also gotta watch the calories if you're prone to being able to eat
unlimited amounts of nuts (like me) I prefer sunflower seeds in the shell,
it takes so long to get such a small amount that they're nearly impossible
to overeat. Oh, and a small bag lasts me weeks. They're the perfect snack
for me when I'm feeling 11ish, but not full on hungry.
