Default What effect...change of diet.

Hi Again all...

In the near future, my wife and I will be going on a 2 week vacation, and
the foods being served where we are going will be low fat, high carb - lots
of fresh fruit, some breads, cereals, rice. Little fat and protein. Meat
and cheeses and not common, or very expensive.

What do you think will happen with a two week change like that after being
on Atkins for 6 months, and then returning to Atkins.

Well, assuming neither of you are diabetic, then you can expect, at the very
least, some water weight gain. However, if you don't overeat, which may be
hard to do, you should not gain a lot of weight. For some, stopping LC and
switching to LF can be a good way of making better progress when you return
to LC. Those of us who weight train, will frequently have a weekend of LF
eating to refill muscle gylcogen, and then resume LCing.

Now, if you either of your are diabetic, or pre-diabetic, then things may
not be so good, since all of those carbs may send your BG level out of
control. I'd say to steer to the high-fiber veggies as much as possible,
and try to eat the high-fat veggies if possible.
