Hi Beverly,
I eat a bowl of oatmeal (made from a half cup of thick-cut
oatmeal) with a tablespoon each of ground flax seed and
wheat germ every morning. I love that breakfast, but I
often seem to get hungry only a few hours later. I know
hunger can vary from person to person, but after reading
your posts about the protein powder you use in your
oatmeal, I'm thinking of substituting that for the wheat
germ in mine. Would you mind telling me which protein
powder you use, and the amount you add? Thanks in advance.

Take care,
eddiegirl

I use Body Fortress vanilla whey protein. I add 1/2 scoop (15g). I find it
at Walmart. Here's a website with a review of it. I've also used one
called Carb Solutions but haven't been able to find it lately. I always go
back to the vanilla flavor even though I've tried other flavors.

I use this same product, but I put a full scoop in. It's great stuff.

While we are flaming Bev by putting her name in the subject line,
what's the purpose of the flaxseed?

Yikes - I didn't mean to "flame" Beverly, just get her
attention. I starting adding ground flaxseed to my oatmeal
a few years ago. It's high in omega 3 fatty acids (the
good fats), and a good source of fiber. I also like the
nutty taste it adds. On a side note, and with no
scientific backing at all, I've noticed very few problems
with dry skin, even in winter, since I started adding
flaxseed to my diet. Here's a link with more info:

I was joking about the flaming. I'd heard from an old-time Usenet
poster that putting names in subject lines is flaming.

As Neil said, he was joking. Pinging someone is done all the time in
this group.

Your reasons for adding the ground flaxseed are the same as mine. I
also like the nutty flavor it adds to the oatmeal. I often add it to
yogurt.

Do you grind it? I do that sometimes (I have a "flaxseed" grinder --
aka coffee grinder). Apparently, the omega 3s are processed better that
way. Otherwise, there is, shall we say, a wholeness problem.

I have a flaxseed grinder, too A few times I've bought them already
ground but it's much more expensive.

You didn't flame her. Your original post contained a "Ping" which has
dropped somehow but has been used in this group for the years I've been here
to appropriately address someone specifically.
