Matty V's Monthly Update - July 2007
Wow, Hard to believe summer is almost over. Only been in the pool once so far this year, I think this summer has been a bit cooler than it was last year. I remember we were in the pool at least once a week this time last year. It's been cooler but not a whole lot of rain. My grass is brown and brittle, one of the trees in my yard has gone into hibernation - losing all of its leaves. It was weird raking up leaves in the middle of July... Good news is that there has been no change in weight. Holding steady at 266lbs, so the gaining I think is over. Now it's trying to figure out how to jumpstart things again. I've started cycling after taking a break and I have considered jogging in the evenings as well. That routine will start Monday, jogging for a 1/2 hour M-W-F when I get home from work. Some more good news is that some of the loose skin is starting to firm up around my stomach area. I will still need plastic surgery down the road, but possibly not as invasive as what I imagine it may take. This past month (as well as the upcoming month) are really testing my faith and commitment both physically and spiritually. As if to say, "you talk the talk, but are you willing to walk the walk?" And to that I say, "you better believe it!" As Joel Olsteen has the congregation repeat each week while holding their Bibles aloft, "This is my Bible. I am what it says I am, I have what it says I have, I can do what it says I can do!" Amen! Looking at several opportunities including expanding my internet webshow, "The Fattening of America" (which is on the verge of exploding on YouTube) onto the big screen (the local public access channel), and into a weekly downloadable podcast on iTunes. I have also started my book. I have written 2 chapters so far and have submitted them to a couple of editors that are willing to help me make this a reality. I decided that I will offer it for free as a downloadable e-book on my website and have softcover copies of the book available for sale. A friend has given me information on a couple of reasonably-priced self-publishing houses that can print the books for me and even list it on the Amazon, Barnes & Noble, & the Books-A-Million websites. I keep reminding myself that this isn't just a journey about losing weight - it's a journey about growing and learning as well... Matty V. www.iweighedmorethanjared.com |

That is the fault of the liberals. They are expelling so much hot air when they talk it is cooling the climate!!! Of course, they are trying to turn things around, as is their nature, say that it is "global warming", and blame us repulicans. The *******s! Good news is that there has been no change in weight. If you figure out how to jump-start things, let us know & we'll all get rich off your plan ;-) Otherwise, hang in there, you're on the way to where you want to be. (Keeping a food log might give you some insight.) Some more good news is that some of the loose skin is starting to firm up around my stomach area. I will still need plastic surgery down the road, but possibly not as invasive as what I imagine it may take. How long has it taken to start to firm up, and what do you expect to have to go through in terms of surgery? I'm not sure, but I think I'm getting some hanging skin. My stomach is drooping, anyway. Whether that's loose skin or a sigh of relief from my stomach, I don't know. I keep reminding myself that this isn't just a journey about losing weight - it's a journey about growing and learning as well... Wow. I am so not there yet. For me, this is a journey about losing weight and getting my **** together in terms of eating healthy. You're miles ahead of me, dude, keep up the good work! |

Of course, they are trying to turn things around, as is their nature, say that it is "global warming", and blame us repulicans. The *******s! It's a conspiracy! Actually went swimming a couple of times this week already (in the upper 90's around here lately)... Good news is that there has been no change in weight. (Keeping a food log might give you some insight.) I increased my calorie intake back to 2000cal and got back on the vitamins, including adding Vitamin D to the mix. We'll see what that does... Some more good news is that some of the loose skin is starting to firm up around my stomach area. I will still need plastic surgery down the road, but possibly not as invasive as what I imagine it may take. Whether that's loose skin or a sigh of relief from my stomach, I don't know. I noticed it starting to firm up about 2-3 months ago (started my journey almost 3.5yrs ago), slow going and I think I will still need surgery to cut away the loose skin from under my arms, my chest, my stomach (huge apron of loose skin), and thighs. Of course this is cosmetic and not necessary so health insurance won't cover it... I may be a few miles ahead and others are further ahead than I am - but the thing to remember is we will all get to the same destination if we keep encouraging each other to stick with it! "Matty (I Weighed More Than Jared From Subway)" wrote in message ... Wow, Hard to believe summer is almost over. Only been in the pool once so far this year, I dread hearing those words I'm a little late with a response but I was on a bike tour last week and I'm getting ready to head out for another tour tomorrow. I'll be in your state doing the Western Shoreline Tour. Glad to see you have nipped the gaining and are started in the right direction again. I've hovered about 3 pounds above goal this summer but it's tough to lose weight while fueling for the longer rides. I put almost 600 miles on the bike last month and I'll be doing the same again in August. I need to make a commitment to stay in shape over the winter and lose another 10 pounds. You'll probably see me posting more often once the biking season slacks off as I'll be looking for some advice and support to lose. I have all the confidence in the world that you'll find what you need to jumpstart your weight loss again. Beverly I think this summer has been a bit cooler than it was last year.
