and bumped my head ...
I can't seem to remember how to eat healthy foods or go for long walks.
This past week my eating has been horrible. Junk junk and more junk.
ugh, what do you do to get yourself back on track?

i don't buy junk. i'm not a big fan of crisps, chips & candy
anyway so it's easier.
we also follow the serving size listed on the package (or
less than serving size depending on calories/fat/sodium).
write down *everything* you eat. that helps you see where
you're falling down & it also slows down the hand-to-mouth.
if you're feeling hungry, drink some water. you may not
actually be hungry, but the brain sometimes signals 'hunger'
when you start to dehydrate. and sometimes your mouth says
hungry when you aren't really. i chew on cinnamon sticks when
that happens.
meanwhile, remember not to deprive yourself even if cutting
calories. figure in at least one treat per day in your
planning.

This is what I figured out about myself. If I stick to my workout
schedule I eat better and feel better and overall my attitude is much
better. The converse is true as well. If I fall off the wagon, at the
earliest twinge of guilt, I visit the gym and everything slowly falls
back in place.

Here's my suggestion for you. Make 2 goals right now. Drink more water
and stick to your workout regime (walking, jogging whatever!). Don't
think about anything else. If you follow these two rules you'll see
the results. I workout in the gym. So I know how many calories I burn.
If the candy bar has 400 calories that means I have to run 4 miles to
burn it off. That kinda turns me away from the candy bar.

just my $0.02

well - (from a gal who's been there, not being a wiseguy) Don't eat junk.
LOL. really.

If you are having trouble because you are craving something salty or sweet
or rich, whatever - figure out what it is. Don't just keep feeding it. If
you pinpoint the trigger or the craving you can squash it with a healthy
food.

I have fallen off the wagon for long periods of time and it can be hard. I
find it easiest to stay on track if i don't let myself get hungry. That
means I snack ALL DAY. An ounce of Feta Cheese here, a dill pickle there, a
hard boiled egg, some tuna, celery with bleu cheese dressing..mmm. I drink
giant glasses of seltzer with lime to stay full too.

I eat strongly flavored foods and I keep sugar-free ice pops in the freezer
too.

If i don't have good, convenient foods handy I find it easier to slip.

You've been doing great and inspired me to start posting here so get back on
the wagon!!

Are you eating protein so you will feel satisfied. I begin the day with
a good breakfast. Lately it has been an egg, a piece of double fiber
bread, fresh fruit and a cup of tea. It holds me over until lunch. I
have chicken, tuna, turkey and cottage cheese on hand for my noon meal
and the evening meal is a protein with a big salad and vegetables. Can
you throw away the junk? Throwing away food can feel very liberating.

I do need to start writing everything I eat down. I was doing that for a
while, but seemed to have given it up at some point.
Also, I don't have any junk food in the house, it seems that it's at every
party, or summer event. I know it's up to me to eat it or not, I'm feeling
a bit stronger about it today.

Hope your head feels better today.....

I have found that I can't have the junk in the house. I'm on the imfamous
SeeFood diet. I see food and I eat it. Depsite my weight loss, I still have
issues with food. Probably will for the rest of my life.

Take a look at the core plan. Maybe eating off of the core plan for a week
or 2 would help rid the toxins in your system. Sugar and white flour can
cause cravings for people. Increase your water and that should help too.
