Default Neck fat - specific exercises? Please reply!

Hello all,

I have a slim body build, and have little fat around the navel area.
However, the thing that annoys me the most is the fat around my neck!
The fat that surrounds my neck is very
stretchy, and when I lower or bend my head, it is very noticeable and
you can see layers of fat which look extremely ugly (like a roly-poly
dog) . My
BMI is just over 16 (175cm and 50kg).

My question is, are there any special exercises/workouts which I can
relatively easily do to reduce this neck fat (e.g. once a day??),
without going into taking medications, etc...??? It seems that no
amount of exercise can remove it... I regularly play tennis, do
swimming, basketball and cross-country, but to no avail! I even tried
to go on a diet but that didn't work either... Please help!!!

Thanks!!
Cecilia

p.s. If it helps, I am 16 years old.

I remember my best friend in high school spending hours, literally,
HOURS with a curling iron trying to get the curls to go in JUST THE
RIGHT WAY. She had some idea of how she was supposed to look that
absolutely no one else cared about. In fact, her focus on this issue
made her less fun to be around.

I had a theory in high school that I was basically invisible. No one
CARED what I looked like (besides me) and the only time anyone else ever
noticed was just to consider how THEY looked in comparison. If I looked
particularly good I'd make people feel bad because I looked better than
them. If I looked particularly bad I'd make people feel good because
they at least looked better than me. The point is, it was all about
THEM! They didn't give a flying F*** about how *I* actually looked
except how it related to them. Life was happier for me after I figured
this out.

The answer to your question, Cecilia, is that your particular personal
body has vagaries all it's own. It's what makes you look like you. No
one cares if you tend to carry fat in your neck, and neither should you.
You should aim to be the best CECILIA you can be, but get rid of ideas
that you ought not to have skin folds when you look down (how ridiculous
is that, I mean, where's the skin supposed to go?!?) Be thankful if you
don't tend to have thick ankles or lots of body fat packed around your
organs. But no, there is not such thing as spot reducing. Everyone
carries their fat deposits in slightly different places.

In fact, at 16 you are just about to start to form more fat deposits on
your thighs and hips - be aware that actual women just HAVE those. You
need something like 18% - 22% bodyfat to function well, and that is
going to come as a HUGE shock to you. (I put on 10 pounds of fat in my
last two years in high school despite being a three season athlete: in
other words, I got hips and boobs.)

Jesus Christ, Brad, she's *sixteen* years old. Plastic surgery at her age
is a ridiculous thing to even consider especially for a "fat neck". Trust
me, Cecelia, probably no one else but you notices. But if they do, they are
really scrapping the bottom of the barrel for things to tease/criticize you
for! Just write them off as a moron and move on with your life.

Spot reduction doesn't work. If you truly have this problem a plastic
surgeon might help you. How about posting a picture? I'll bet you
look fine. Beware of body dismorphic disorder (do a web search). A
BMI of 16 is officially underweight.

Being that you're only 16, your body shape is probably going to change
with time.

I don't know if this will help you, but it did help me from having fat
around my chin and neck with weight loss. This is not the same,
because I as very overweight at one time, and now I am not. You on the
other hand, are no where near overweight.

What I did find helped me to eliminate the double chin and slim down
my neck are shoulder lifts, front and side raises:

http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/...rontRaise.html

The raises are the same but you lift your arms to the sides. I do mine
at the same time as opposed to alternating as shown in the clip above.

However, I would add a complete upper body workout to make sure you
work out all the muscle groups. You can find out more about women's
weight lifting at the site above and at:

http://www.stumptuous.com/weights.html

Good luck.

Thanks for the tip! I will try it right away... I'm eternally
grateful.

Thanks, I get what you mean... But the thing is, this neck fat is really
annoying, really ugly and it feels really bad (for me)... I just thought
there might be some way to reduce it somehow.
