Bread suggestion
Many light breads including store brands are low in carbs although not as
low as soy breads but the taste is much better. Nancy J 209/167/145 "Anna Meyer" wrote in message ... I find that I really don't like any of the "fake" foods, like the low-carb breads and cookies. I discovered that Oroweat has a bread that is called "LIGHT" on the package. It is basically half the size of their regular wheat bread, so it is smallish, but one sclice has 9 carbs with 3.5 fiber. So after that it has only 5.5 carbs. Since it is regular wheat bread, it tastes great and fits in to my breakfast with a couple of fried eggs. Thought I would share this discovery with you all! Many light breads including store brands are low in carbs although not as low as soy breads but the taste is much better. Arnold's Lite bread has now been relabeled "Low Carb" and sports an added label "6 effective carbs". At the same store I saw this at, there was another brand that I didn't recognize (Homestead? something like that), with "9 effective carbs" on the wrapper. In both case, the arithmetic seems to work out OK. The slices are normal bread size and thickness; there are things like oat bran on the label, and there also seems to be more fat than in the regular bread. -- AF "Non Sequitur U has a really, really lousy debate team." --artyw raises the bar on rec.sport.baseball |

I picked up a loaf of Pepperidge Farms white bread and found out what "thinly sliced" meant. I didn't KNOW anyone could do THAT to bread. Couldn't even toast it without it curling up, burning the corners and getting stuck in the darned toaster! Sheesh! I like a normal slice since I'm gonna be doing this WOE forever I've seen the Arnold's brand in my store and will try that one next time. Thanks, who has time to read every loaf of bread? Nancy J |

Thanks Anna, I usually also look for sugar content on the package.
