Default stuck!!

hi all,

checking in after a few mad weeks. i got a new job that i really wanted
which is the good news, and i think feeling better about myself helped with
confidence. the bad news is i seem to have got stuck in slow or backwards.

here's my last few weigh ins (lbs)

+1 (tom) -1,-1.5, +.5,-1, 0,-1 ( I've now lost 17.5 in 11 weeks)

i knew it would slow down eventually and a loss is a loss. but i joined a
gym 3 weeks ago and have been going 5 times a week. does this take time to
show? I am noticing other things since going to the gym. i can know run
upstairs without feeling it at all. i have gone down one dress and the next
size is getting looser. i am on no count so don't write down what i eat, do
you think this might help. or is it just my body getting use to the
exercise thing? Last time i went to ww 2 years ago the same thing happened i
went up down and round the same 4lb for 8 weeks and gave up. this time i
thought no I'll throw in exercise instead and see if that helped! I love the
gym , even though i was scared going in there on my own at first. so i am
carrying on with it no matter what but i hope it starts showing on the
scales soon.

Congratulation on those that have lost and commiserations to those that have
gained.

You lost 3 lbs alltogether.. in 7 weeks.. and 17.5 lbs in 11 weeks.. which
is 1.6 lbs/week... that's awesome !

Slowing down IS normal.. make sure you're keeping on program and things will
even out..

The +5 rise and joining the gym seem to have occurred at the same
time. This is exactly what I would have predicted. When you start
exercise the body will take on water and your weight will go up. Don't
worry about it it'll come down again when your body gets used to the
new regime.

I am noticing other things since going to the gym. i can know run

Exercise has only a little effect on weight loss, it's more of a
health thing. Having said that going 5 times a week will burn off
quite a few calories.

When I read you were going 5 times a week I thought that might be too
much, but if you enjoy it thats another story. Diet and exercise is
the best way to lose weight and get healthy.
Not sure what you do in the gym, but try to do some weights as well as
cardio if you can, and if you enjoy it.

hi ray

i not doing any free weights but am doing 7 different machines for toning.
on top of that I'm doing 20 mins treadmill and 20 mins on bike. I've tried
the cross trainer but after 5mins my knees are screaming for me to get off.

does anyone else find this machine really hard or is it me?

A friend of ours has one that I tried. I couldn't get to stay upright
on it. Ended up hanging on for dear life and had to be helped off.

Reminded me of the time I went to the motor show and tried to get in a
morgan. Getting in was OK, but I had to be lifted out by 2 men.
Embarrassing isn't the word.

I love the crosstrainer...I do 30 mins and keep my heart rate at 150 or
so. I do notice that if I don't move my feet around on it, the balls of
my feet sort of fall asleep. Weird.

I've loaded up my iPod with a few hours of gym music in one playlist
and I hit shuffle and go. Love it!
