Default Gum Question??

Dumb question time

I don't usually chew gum, but I have a craving for something minty. Looking
at the carbs, gum is quite high. So the dumb question is..... is the carb
count for someone who swallows (yuck) the gum, or just chews it.....

I warned you this was a dumb question....
Thanks
JD

I'm not an expert, but I would say the carb count would apply to just chewing
the gum as the "nutrients" are being released as the gum is chewed.

That's an interesting question. I chew Wrigley's Extra Polar Ice. I
started chewing it when I quit smoking. I joke with my wife that I'm
going to have to start smoking again just to quit my gum habit.

Anyway, looking at the package, I see that there are 2 grams of carbs
per stick. I figure that 2 grams spread out over an 8 or 12 hour
period is not that high.

I'm sure that the figures are for chewing, as it is not really
intended to be swallowed. But I don't see it as a great worry either
way.

JD, try Eclipse Peppermint. It's sweetened with artificial
sweeteners. I like it a lot.

Good luck,
Bonnie

You chew one piece of gum for 8 hours? Wow.

My guess, however, is that the carbs are out by the time most of the flavor is
gone, which is, in my experience, in about 20 minutes.

Default Gum Question??

I haven't found a splenda sweetened gum, you? have seen flavor strips to
keep in the mouth. Chewing gum, keeps the stomach active- I'm avoiding it-
but if it keeps you from munching go ahead, but count the daily sweeteners.
cinnamon is a great spice to help stay out of the baked goods.

That's what I like about Polar Ice. The flavor lasts a loooong time.
And yes, I usually get over 8 hours out of a stick of gum.

Apparently there are a few gums on the market made with Splenda, but I
haven't tried any yet. In fact, I had never really thought of looking
for them. I guess I'm a creature of habit.

Default Gum Question??

Orbit gum is made with sugar alcohol only so it has ZERO net carbs for
Atkins dieters.
I'm a gum-a-holic so i was quite pleased to see Orbit is OK. (I only have
the bubble gum flavor, so I don't know about the other flavors yet.)
