Low Carb Tortilla ?
I find the Mission taste the best, but they have the most fat, totaling 200
Calories. Have not seen/tried HEB. But locally I do find La Tortilla Factory (70 cals) and I -think it's called, "Don Jose Wraps", whole wheat, 7-9 net Carbs and 70-100 cals. The Mission LC comes in 3 sizes; Fajita, Taco, and Burrito. I have not seen a whole wheat variety. Check other labels - Whole Wheat tortillas have a lot of fiber so the net can be low, but many brands haven't put "LC" on the packaging (yet). HTH Steve "OmManiPadmeOmelet" wrote in message ... The have a LC line listed with Tot Carbs 18 less 11 g of dietary fiver for a net carb count of 7 per tortilla. These are pretty good sized, about 7 1/2 inches in diameter, but are 7 g of carb a lot for one tortilla? I'm just curious if I should keep looking around or go with these. Thanks for any advice (besides eat less and exercise more :P ) bmcky Boston, MA Keep looking. Mission "low carb" tortillas taste like cardboard. YMMV. I use HEB's brand at only 4 grams net carbs, and they are delicious. ;-d Cheers! -- Om. "My mother never saw the irony in calling me a son-of-a-bitch." -Jack Nicholson |

Made for a good lunch if you consider walking from item to item acceptable. The price was right, though! Pat in TX I know what you mean. ;-) Saturday is a good day to go there! Cheers! -- Om. Try this, Sami's has low carb Lavash (it's like a tortilla) or a flat
bread. ZERO Carbs. Works for pizza shells, and wraps. Great Products and Tested on TV by a local tv station. http://www.samisbakery.com/pd_detail2.asp?str=5 |

(God, did I just channel JCDK for a second?) 65 total calories, minus the 12 calories from 3g of protein, minus the 9 calories (from 1g of fat) leaves 44 calories coming from carbs (because there's no place else for calories to come from). 44 calories means 11g of carbs, so the fiber has already been subtracted from that "11g" carb count. I think there must not be a strict requirement in the US that manufacturers do this one way or the other consistently - I see some food labels where the fiber grams aren't subtracted from the carb count, and some where they are. (Not surprisingly, most of the products where it's subtracted are "reduced-carb" products. They're probably hoping that people have just adopted the simple "subtract fiber grams from carb grams" rule, and thus their products look lower-carb than they are, without the manufacturers having to actually come out and lie or anything.) I've heard, but not looked closely enough to know, that on EU labels, carb counts always mean "net carbs", and fiber counts always mean indigestible/non-caloric fiber. That makes sense to me - but until the US goes consistently one way or the other, shopping will involve math. (I don't mind doing math, but I do wish labels were more useful) |

It's my impression that they include the fiber carbs in the calorie count.
Eleven grams sound high for one of these, but looking at the ingredients, 0 also looks low. Bob Geary wrote: | | Those aren't zero carb.
