Am I the last to hear about Aspartame?
Am I the last to hear about Aspartame?
Last night, friends revealed to me their recent discovery that Aspartame is dangerous. No problem I thought. I won't go there. They went on to explain that Aspartame is the sugar substitute found in all (well tell me any it's not in) all sugar free sweet products. I read with interest turning to horror the list of possible problems attributed to this ingredient. Dr Janet Starr Hull was the author of the first site I studied http://www.sweetpoison.com/ . She lists a horrendous catalogue of effects, which she attributes to Aspartame including a few problems I have and continue to experience. I checked the fridge only to find the sugar free lemonade contains Aspartame. That's it then! It has to go. And my wife's sweetex. Got to go. No more sugar free drinks for me, I decided. I'd rather watch the sugar and know what I'm letting myself in for. Give up Aspartame and see if the symptoms subside. Today was the first day of the rest of my life and no more of those sugar free Aspartame filled drinks for me so when it came time for a drink I selected a Tango orange. The real, full sugar deal. Half way through the can I decided to check the ingredients and was shocked to find that as well as sugar it also contains the deadly Aspartame! Later, back at home I was delighted to discover that my wife had been shopping and brought home four large bottles of Sainsbury's lemonade. Not the usual calorie free Aspartame heavy bottles but the fattening sugar filled original drink. I checked the label and once again found no escape from Aspartame. Time to find out more about Aspartame so back to the internet and I find it' s a great debate with many sites declaring the dangers of Aspartame whilst others proclaim its safety. I don't know the truth but for me, there will be a period free of Aspartame whilst I explore the effect on the problems I have experienced. If they improve I shall choose to agree that Aspartame may be a problem. If not, it' s all down to age as I'd originally suspected. For me, the question of the dangers of Aspartame is still in the balance but I would like a choice! I would like to be able to buy sugar products which are Aspartame free. So far, Coca cola looks like a safe sugar filled option. Has anyone any experience of trying to get Aspartame removed from non slimming, calorie free products? |

Am I the last to hear about Aspartame?

Am I the last to hear about Aspartame? Looks like it. I just consume as little as possible without making a big fuss about it. Not a problem as we drink very few pre-made fizzy drinks: we have a sodastream. We just fizz water and add it to straight unsweetened fruit juice. And I cook, so we eat very few pre-packaged foods with it in. For a start, it tastes bitter to me, and also I dislike over-sweet things. Other artificial sweetners are worse in some ways. -- Kate XXXXXX R.C.T.Q Madame Chef des Trolls Lady Catherine, Wardrobe Mistress of the Chocolate Buttons http://www.katedicey.co.uk Click on Kate's Pages and explore! |

I am sure Diet Coke does. What about WW products? Sugar free jello pudding? "John Smith" wrote in message ... Am I the last to hear about Aspartame? Am I the last to hear about Aspartame?
I've read that aspartame is safe as long as it hasn't been heated, so if
your pop was left in a hot truck or something, then it can become dangerous, however, I've also read that the whole thing is a bunch of hooey. So who knows. I do know that when I first tried diet pop with aspartame, it gave me an upset stomach. However, I've since gotten used to it. I'm kind of stuck drinking diet pop & flavored water and that sort of thing, because I found out recently that I'm a diabetic, so no more Coke Classic for me. Lori "John Smith" wrote in message ... this is very much a YMMV item, one 12 ounce pop and its a trip to the ER and
a shot for a migraine, my brother on the other hand uses it loads with no current ill effects, Lee Lori wrote in message news:TUJHg.457709$Mn5.38809@pd7tw3no... Am I the last to hear about Aspartame?
People are dying because of aspartame.
http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?...86&q=aspartame Everything you need to know about this toxic substance can be viewed here. It's not a rant, it's a very compelling documentary that I hope will get people to seek alternatives. I have no link with the people who made this. I'm just interested in being 100% healthy. Some facts about aspartame: There are 92 reported side effects including: epileptic seizures, brain tumours, blindness. The company that brought us this also manufactured Agent Orange during the Vietnam war and produces GM foods. They have recently created a "Terminator Seed" which is infertile and requires farmers to buy the seeds year after year. Ed. |
