Default Eat before or after the gym?

Hi,

Is it best to eat before or after a trip to the gym? I generally go from
8pm-9pm and typically I eat around 7pm. With weight loss being the goal
here is this the best choice?

Thanks
Mike

Default Eat before or after the gym?

When I worked out at night, I would split dinner, have half before, and half
after...

Kept me from fainting from hunger at the gym... and I NEED food after I work
out..

I don't know if there's a "formula" for it.. I know your supposed to have
some carbs after you work out..

You should not be hungry but your stomach should be at rest. A small
snack an hour before would be my recommendation.

I was at the gym at 7:10 this morning, I worked out for two hours, my
longest and most intense work out yet--and I did it on an empty stomach. I
got lite headed several times when getting off a piece of weight equipment.
Tomorrow, Ithink I will have at least a glass of Pomegrante juice and maybe
some cottage cheese before I go. This is a good week for me to "experiment",
I am on vacation.

I know your supposed to have some carbs after you work out..

I felt bad coming home and eating--like the calories I watched burn off
on the cardio apparatus monitors were for naught.

I work out at 5:30 am now, I always eat something before, a piece of fruit,
a little oatmeal something..

I tend to workout during the same time frame. (skipping tonight because
I'm just pooped out). Although what works in my household is for me to cook
dinner for the boys around 7pm but to put my meal aside for later. I will
eat a light snack about an hour before I hit the gym so that I have enough
energy to make it thru my workouts, otherwise I find that after 45 mins of a
hard workout I'm lightheaded when heading for the weights.

So, I essentially eat my meal after I get home around 9:30 or so. This
also pretty much forces me to eat lighter so that I don't have a heavy
amount of food in my stomach while sleeping.

I know, but I have a lot of stupid "head" issues food. I know I'm
being ridiculous a lot of the time (like watering down a can of Slim Fast
and making it last TWO meals and breaking the plain crust edge off of a
Weght Watchers poizza because EVERY CALORIE COUNTS), but I do it anyway. I
suck.

It's not a matter of "I suck"... it's a matter of getting healthy.. or just
slowly killing yourself... choice's yours..

Yeah, well, I more or less subscribed to b) for most of my life, with
starving, purging and pills. I'm opting for a) now, but old compulsions
are The Big Bad and tough to stake. I'm getting there--but it's a winding
road.

Ah, but there's the rub. If I get on the bike at 5:20 in the morning
that would mean getting up at close to 4 am to have my snack. ;-)
