Two week weigh-in + thanksgiving plans
OK, well, my doctor gave me a lofty goal of losing 25 pounds in 12 weeks. I got back on-track with my eating, as I had been eating too many carbs and was maintaining, but not really gaining, for a while. So far, so good. On the 7th I weighed in at 245 and today I'm at 241. I do plot my weight on a chart from day-to-day and I see the loss is real, not just day-to-day fluctuation. I'm not going to kick myself in the ass if I don't lose the whole 25 pounds, it is a lofty goal. I do fully expect to lose 15 pounds, and if I lose more, that's great. Regarding Thanksgiving, ugh. Personally/socially, I'm not looking forward to it as the kids have dragged my x into the plans, and we don't get along. Food-wise, though, things are looking pretty good. I'm cooking and am going to keep it simple: Turkey, 13#: I'm going to rub walnut oil all over her, season with fresh herbs, feed her a stick or two of butter, bag the bitch and throw her in the oven. Ham, 8#: If I motivate I'll do a splenda-type glaze. Otherwise, I'm good just throwing it in the oven. I have to find a food thermometer somewhere. Question: to which internal temp does one cook a "partially cooked" ham? String beans (green beans) w. almond slivers. Faux potatoes using Susan's recipe. The x will no doubt have a lot of sugary/carby crap which she will try to push me to eat. I'll just avoid it like its poison (or poisoned, maybe). A little OT, but... should I have the x over here, on "my turf", or go to her place? I am leaning towards going to her place because I can walk out if things get bad -- but then I'd be without dinner. I figure that if things go to hell and we're here, I'm screwed because I would either have to ask her to leave or hermit in my room. (Hey, the computer's here.) Mike |

Seriously. That's just the best recipe I've ever read! (Hey, the computer's here.) Be there and assume it will go well. Be polite and friendly. And if it doesn't go well, just happen to need to take care of something on the computer room. Don't make a big deal, just suddenly "remember" your machine needs an emergency virus check or something, smile nicely and excuse yourself. No matter what does or doesn't actually happen in a breakup, kids always remember. My mom poisoned us against my dad, but a few years down the line, we noticed he'd never actually done anything mean or nasty, whereas there was a long list for her. So **** the bitch by being nice to her. -- http://www.ornery-geeks.org/consulting/ |

Fill up on the turkey and ham before you even get there. It'll be easier to pass up if you're full. A little OT, but... should I have the x over here, on "my turf", or go to her place? If you have to walk out, you have a backup. Dawn |
