Apples!
I've been trying to move beyond 30 carbs/day, but still seem to stick around 20-
25 because it just works out that way (I tend to have 2 meals a day plus whatever). Strawberries (GOOD ones) are getting harder and harder to find. Today I decided to try something different -- an APPLE! The Atkins Center lists that as a low AGR (Atkins Glycemic Ranking) suitable for OWL. I had a 5.8 oz apple with 1/4 whipped cream (flavored with coffee extract & liquid Splenda). HEAVEN! It was SOOOO sweet and crisp and PERFECT! The apple was over 18gms of carbs, but I STILL came in at just under 35 carbs for the day, including a large salad. I probably should only have HALF an apple next time, but DAMN that was nice :-) And to think I used to let apples sit around until they started looking like little old ladies! One thing this WOE teaches you is a REAL appreciation for the TRULY GOOD things in life! -- Saffire 205/184/125 Atkins since 6/14/03 Progress photo: http://photos.yahoo.com/saffire333 |

I think we should be eating whatever fruit is in season, I think our bodies were made to do that. The Honeycrisps are nearly done and then I will be done with apples until next fall : ( -- Lori 220/143/135 LC since 1/17/03 Nov Challenge 145/140 http://community.webshots.com/album/99840928pOTLCx |

I'll have to try both. BillJ 254/170/168 Atkins since 6/20/01 |

Apples!
I just couldn't agree more. I cut up an apple and put cinamon on it. Then
nuked it for a minute or so until it was hot and softened. Then I put whipped cream on it and I too appreciated the flavor so very much. Yummy! I was just telling someone the other day how terrible sugary carbs taste to me now (such as a cookie) and how good the natural fruits taaste when I splurge and have them for a treat.
