Food & Exercise -- 11/22-26/2006 (Wednesday through today)
Hi all -- hope all you other US folks had a great Thanksgiving -- and
of course that everyone else has had a wonderful weekend too! We went up to Pennsylvania to celebrate with DH's family -- stayed with his mom and got together with his brother's family (who live in the same town) and one of his sister's families, who were visiting as well (and staying with the BIL). I ate excessively on Thanksgiving but not too badly (though not always the greatest food choices) on the other days. And I did get in a bit of exercise :-). Wednesday, 11/22: In the morning we went to pick up the fresh turkey we had on order at the grocery store, then went to the gym (where I did a yoga class), then to pick up desserts (and some take-out lunch) at the Chinese bakery. We then drove up to my MIL's -- should have taken 2 hours but took almost 4 thanks to bad weather and traffic. She made dinner for us and my SIL and family. Food: * 7:30 (home): 2 poached eggs on 1 slice whole wheat toast w/ 3 slices melted f/f cheese & 10g grated parmesan * 10:00 (driving to gym): energy bar * 1:00 (driving to PA -- takeout from Chinese bakery): roast pork bun; medium-sized chocolate chip cookie * 3:30 (still driving): 1 oz. beef jerky * 7:00 (MIL's): 1 cup of a sort of stove-top lasagna; 4 pfeffernusse (don't know how to spell this for sure) cookies -- kind of like ginger snaps Totals: 1448 calories, 38g fat (24%), 176g carbs (40%), 97g protein (27%) Exercise: 11:00 -- 75 minute vinyasa yoga class Thursday, 11/23: Had breakfast at MIL's house, then hung out with family members and began work on the turkey, which DH and I prepared over there. After lunch I went over to BIL's house and left DH back at MIL's to finish the turkey and make stuffing and gravy (this was mainly his project). A couple of the nephews went over when it was done to help convey things back to MILs, and then we all had dinner. Meanwhile we drank lots of wine (which we'd brought -- that was my project :-) ). Food: * 7:45 (MIL's): 2 eggs scrambled w/ 1/2 oz. Swiss cheese; 1 largish apple muffin * 12:00 (MIL's): small sandwich w/ 1 slice Italian wheat bread, 2 oz. deli roast beef, 1/2 oz. Swiss cheese, and mustard * 4:00 (BIL's): 1 oz. mixed nuts * 6:00 (BIL's): 4 oz. turkey breast; 1 cup stuffing; 2/3 cup mashed potatoes; 4 oz. gravy; 1/2 cup sweet potato spoon bread (an excellent dish that other BIL made); 2/3 cup fruit salad; very small slices each of pumpkin pie, apple pie, and chocolate sponge cake * 2:00 -- 9:00 (BIL's): 14 oz. wine Totals: 2767 calories (276 from alcohol), 101g fat (33%), 247g carbs (36%), 147g protein (21%) Exercise: None. One BIL and nephew went for a run, but it was raining and I wasn't up for it (and I couldn't have kept up with them anyway -- they're 6'2" and 6'7"!). Friday, 11/24: Hung out at MIL's all morning. It was a beautiful day and I went for a run. In the afternoon I went out to an afternoon high tea with MIL and one SIL -- lots of fun. For dinner we just had sandwiches at MIL's. Food: * 8:15 (MIL's): 2 eggs scrambled w/ 1/2 oz. Swiss cheese; largish apple muffin * 11:00 (MIL's -- post run): 2 mini poppyseed muffins * 2:00 (tea room): salad w/ greens, dried cranberries, pecans, feta, raspberry vinaigrette; 1/2 cup squash soup; scone w/ Jersey cream & lemon curd; 3 small savories (mushroom tart, asparagus spear in puff pastry, minced turkey & cranberry on toast); 3 small sweets (bite-sized cheesecake, small square of spice sponge cake, petit four) * 7:00 (MIL's): large onion roll w/ 4 oz. roast beef, 1 oz. Swiss cheese, & mustard Totals: 1547 calories, 72g fat (42%), 154g carbs (40%), 71g protein (18%) Exercise: 10:00 -- 2 3/4 mile run Saturday, 11/25: Packed up in the morning, then went out for a late breakfast w/ MIL, then drove home.
