Default New Year, New You Exercise Challenge

Count me in too!

Since I haven't heard from Anna I've decided to go ahead and put
together the next exercise challenge. It's a wee bit longer than the
usual - this is a 13week challenge - because I wanted it to run right
through the current year and end in the next one. Starting weights will
be the weight the week of September 29-October 5. I'll need starting
weights and goal weights for anyone wanting to participate. I'll have a
website up later today and will post again with the URL.

I'm going to institute some of the same rules that Anna had for the
SWWC, namely:
1. Goal weights should assume the recommended, average loss of 1-2 lbs
per week, although they can be a less if you're a slow loser, or a
little more if you're a fast loser. I don't want anyone killing
themselves for a little challenge!
2. People on maintenance will be identified by an "M" in one column, so
that we know they aren't trying to lose a lot of weight. People who have
had to drop out will also be noted.

I picked New Year, New You (NY,NY) because everyone always focuses on
the new year as a time time START working on their "new you". Well we
here at ASDW know that it's an ongoing journey. So instead of waiting
until January 1 to make a resolution about weight loss, why not look
ahead and say HEY! I'm going to be a heathier, happier individual FOR
the new year, not just IN the new year. And why is it that the media
teaches us to start preparing for the swim suit season months ahead of
time, and then tells us that it's okay to "let go" at holiday parties
and not worry about weight loss until January 1? We know that we can
have our party fun and lose weight at the same time. So let's show 'em
how it's done!

Okay, enough rambling.

I'm leaving to catch a flight in less than 2 hours so it's doubtful that
I'll get the site online before I go, but I will work on it once I'm in
Edmonton and should get it online tonight. I'll include a similar
sign-up form on the website - you can also sign up by replying on the
newsgroup or sending me an email with "NYNY" in the subject line.

"It's up to you - NY NY!"

Default New Year, New You Exercise Challenge

Sign me up Amberle! Even though I am on maintenance, I think these challenges are
wonderful in keeping me focused and accountable ... probably will be more than
necessary with the holidays quickly approaching.

Let's throw 133 in as my current weight (Is actually 133.3 but I'm going to move
to a different method of recording weight). My personal ww goal was 140, but I
think I'd like to continue with 135 as my challenge goal (I use that as a danger
zone).

Hope that hasn't confused the heck out of you. G
