I use a separate bag for each day because I wanted the salad precisely portioned
out to account for the carbs. I have an "instant-seal" button on my model, so I
start it going, then immediately press the button. It still sucks some of the
air out, which is great, but starts sealing within about 3 seconds, so it works
out just right. The FIRST time I tried it, just as an experiment, I just let it
do it's thing and it sucked the life out of it to the point where the lettuce was
unrecognizable and I didn't even want to eat it :-)

Thanks that is exactly what I wanted to know. I will give it a try. I get
tired of having to shop for salad stuff every few days.

models (can't remember the numbers exactly)? I couldn't tell any
difference myself except the 5something has a 3 and 1/4 quart
container bundled with it.

I put my salads in the large vacuum canister. That way I am not using
up the vacuum bags. Plus it won't crush whatever you put inside. With
the jar sealer you can use canning jars of various sizes. Using bags
all of the time starts to get to be a little expensive. I use bags
only for extended storage not for everyday things I may need to get
into.

It is also great for saving that 1/2 of avocado without having it turn
brown. It keeps it for several days

What a novel idea!
In my house, once an avacado gets cut the whole thing is devoured. I love
avacados!

I'm also thrilled because walmart had them on sale for 50 cents less per
avacado then the other grocery stores!!

darned much space! I'm excited to see your results with salad - I hate
"aged" lettuce! LOL Did you try your canister for greens at all? I'll
try the canister vs. the bags, to see which way I like it.

I haven't tried the canister yet.

Thanks for the hint (posted later in this thread) about using the
Instant Seal when bagging your salad.
