quick eating advice for tomorrow?

Default quick eating advice for tomorrow?

i was wondering what experience you guys have with 2 day "splurges." tonight, i
had to go to a "homemade pizza party" for thanksgiving and, although the pieces
were small and some had veggies, i had *5* of them (homemade! it tasted
amazing!). before this dinner, i had eaten around 500 calories. i have no idea
where i'm approaching. i suppose it could be anywhere from 1500, which would be
fine, to 2000, which wouldn't be fine with me.

since tomorrow is thanksgiving, i (of course) wanted to relax a little on the
calorie watching. but should i be much more careful now? should i try to keep
it under 1500 for the whole thanksgiving excursion? my usual calorie intake is
from 1250-1500, depending on how hungry i am that day; i'm maintaining with
these calories, not trying to lose weight. i should be able to get back on
track the next day; i have no problem with binging. i just don't know how much
damage two days of eating too much could cause. what would you more experienced
"dieters" do?

The only way this could cause any significant damage is if it gets you
discouraged about dieting so you don't get back on track. Otherwise,
maybe you'll gain 1/2 lb., which you'll lose within a week if you go
back on your plan. (You may weigh a few pounds more on the scale the
next morning, but that would be mainly water weight due to more and
probably saltier foods than you usually eat. The pizza might well do
that, if not the Thanksgiving meal.)

I must agree with what most successfull dieter/maintainers will tell you.
Always get right back on track. One splurge will do little or no harm.
But to give up and eat unhealthy everyday will be devistating to your
mental and physical health. For me its always give and take. If I eat a
larger than normal serving of dessert. I will cut back on my next meal.
Or throw in an extra 15 or 30 min walk. One thing to remember is to never
skip a whole meal to make up for overeating at a previous one. This can
lead to a binge/fasting cycle that can be very hard to overcome.
