Don't eat them if you expect not to have easy access to a toilet for some time. For example, they would be a *bad* thing to take on an all-day hike. Debbie "MEKIESS" wrote in message ... I still want a little something sweet even though I"ve been on Atkins for months and have lost almost 30 lbs. I saw these at Wal-mart and read the label and calculated the effective carbs and bought them. Any comments from the group? All these stories make me wonder if that is nature's way of saying "Don't eat this crap!" |

why can't they stop using the SUGAR ALCOHOLS? seems most folks "react" negatively to them. Texture, largely. It's difficult to make a SF candy with without 'em, particularly one with a shelf-life. If it were easy to make 'em without, Atkins' bars and candy wouldn't be full of 'em - his earlier books said to avoid them. -- jamie ) "There's a seeker born every minute." |

I have to suspect that either it is because the sugar alcohols are relatively cheap or maybe it is because they don't want to reformulate when better choices become available. Less cynically, I suppose they might produce some sort of benefit as far as texture goes? Does anyone know if that is the case? -- Jean B., 12 miles west of Boston, Massachusetts, USA |
