Anyone drinks Wine during Atkins Introducting?

Your liver, whose primary role in the digestion process is to delegate fats to storage or for energy use is compromised when you drink any sort of alcohol. The liver stops its usual job and switches modes to rid the body of the alcohol which it perceives as a toxin. While doing this priority job, the liver has its 'fat switch' in standby mode - whether its bodyfat thats broken down into your bloodstream or fats you ingest from foods, its all going back into storage for later use. Depending on how much you drink, it may take up to four days for your liver to cleanse itself of the alcohol. So even if you are eating well and exercising each day, it may be for naught as you shot yourself in the foot/sabotaged your weightloss by drinking. So choices choices ...which is your priority? joanne Calories are calories. Whatever your liver is up to with the alcohol, you still need the same number of calories for the activity - whether they come from alcohol, fat or spinach makes no difference. -- Rachael 176/116/119 www.justgiving.com/rachaelslondonmarathon |

I have not found this to be true. My current diet includes 2 martinis (517 calories). I have increased and decreased alcohol consumption with no change in my weight. Increasing or decreasing food by that same caloric amount does change weight and very quickly I might add. I have no scientific explanation, merely personal experience that shows alcohol calories are somehow different. Perhaps the mixers or munchies served with the cocktails can cause a significant gain, but so far the vodka has not shown the changes that 500+ calories should. -- Cheese http://cheesensweets.com/contacts/cheese.php |

But what about Atkins during the induction? This was my point of asking
about alochol during the first phase of four phases. Can you tell me whether or not if I could still have alochol during on Atkins Induction? Sorry, not following a low carbohydrate plan so no, I cannot offer you experience one way or the other. How hard do you want to push your liver? Assuming you're planning to use your liver to generate glucose for the length of your low carb diet (ketosis) do you want to also make it metabolize alcohol? Bottom line, check the book. If you don't have the book, I suggest you get one since assuming you're on the Atikins diet without the book is a mistake. -- Cheese http://cheesensweets.com/contacts/cheese.php |

They are asking for our permission to tell them it is okay to drink. That
is what they are fishing for. No, it is not okay to drink alcohol while on induction, whether you do the two week induction or choose to stay on it longer. I have a feeling you are going to do whatever you want anyways. So be it. |
