Default Food & Exercise -- 7/24/2004

Today I spent the day at a "conference resort" working on setup for a
wine competition that takes place tomorrow -- the annual judging of
Virginia wines. I'll work tomorrow at the competition as well. Both
days include a very nice (complimentary for us) buffet lunch (and
today there was also a table of snacks available all day -- don't know
about tomorrow for sure). I planned to indulge at lunch and will do
so again tomorrow. (And I'm going to miss my long cardio tomorrow
because I'll be doing this from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m..) We shall see
what effect all this has :-). But I've still been hovering at 2 lbs.
below my goal range so am not too worried about it. Anyway, here's
the info:

7:00 (home): 2 poached eggs on 1 slice whole wheat toast w/ 3 slices
melted f/f cheese

9:45 (snack table): energy bar

11:00 (snack table): 1 oz. cashews; 1 mini blueberry muffin

1:00 (lunch buffet): 1 cup chili w/ shredded cheese (I was cold!); a
tiny serving (around 1/4 cup) of Caesar salad; around 1 oz. flank
steak; around 3 oz. of steamed carrots and green beans; 1 scoop of ice
cream w/ caramel sauce; 1 bite-sized brownie; 1 bite of lemon
cheesecake; 1 peanut butter cookie; 6 oz. wine (bought for our group
by the competition director) -- not tons of food but rather a lot of
dessert!

9:30 (home -- didn't get hungry again until just a little while ago):
grilled sandwich w/ 2 slices whole wheat bread, 3 slices f/f cheese,
62g ham

Totals: 2136 calories (129 from wine), 78g fat (33%), 213g carbs
(40%), 115g protein (22%)

Exercise: No formal exercise, but was on my feet moving around most
of the day, and spent some time toting cases of wine around. (Setup
for the competition involved organizing some 500 bottles into judging
flights of 3-8 wines by varietal, etc., assigning coded identifiers to
each, removing capsules from half the bottles -- the other half are
duplicates for backup use, wrapping half the bottles in brown paper
wrappers, sticking labels with the coded identifiers onto each wrapped
bottle, double-checking all the labeling, packing the bottles into
cases by judging flight, labeling the cases, putting the cases onto
carts, and moving the carts with the white, blush, and dessert wines
into the resort's refrigerated storeroom. Tomorrow, pre-competition,
we bring all the carts into the judging room, set up all the bottles
in the order they'll be tasted, and then open them. Another guy and I
will spend the day at a table distributing the wines to the pourers in
the correct order. It's important to get all this stuff right because
the results of this competition can make a big difference in the
wineries' sales. It's really interesting, though -- first time I've
done it.)
