Default Spices to increase metabolism?

I was watching a cooking show and it said there were spices that increased
your metabolism and lowered you ldl. I didn't get a chance to copy them
down. Does anyone know these spices?

A little information on spices and metabolism. Most agree they won't
cause substantial weight loss - that's done through diet and exercise.

I always thought this was a chemical reaction to the taste of spices as
opposed to the actual spices. I may be wrong however.

No. They don't exist.

You are incorrect. What you meant to say is, "I'm ignorant of them and

Spot on. Eating a heavily-spiced meal that contains capsaicin can
increase your metabolism quite dramatically for up to 20 minutes. The
hotter the peppers (I like jalipino) the bigger the metabolism
increase. Although it would take a seasoned chili-lover (excuse the
pun) to consume sufficient concentrated peppers to get more than a few
tens of calories net loss, though.
