Default I need recommendations on a book about nutrition

Good morning/afternoon/evening! (It depends when you read that
message).

I've just finished reading the book Good calories, Bad calories. After
reading it, I realize that I need to first go back to Biology 101... I
would need to know what book you would suggest to an idiot like me
that would help me in my research on obesity? I don't need a diet
book, though. I want to understand how the endocrine and digestion
systems work and the way the fat cells work. Please do not start
discussing the GC, BC book just yet. I will create a thread about it
in a new thread. Thanks in advance for your help.

Ofcourse book reading is very good. Simultaneously seeking other sources will help in getting information quickly. I found simple literature on http://encarta.msn.com/encyclopedia_...ne_system.html
giving details about Endocrine system

Simple description about "How fat cells work" can be obtained from http://health.howstuffworks.com/fat-cell.htm/printable
Regards

I do not believe there is a single book like that. At this point
GC/BC might be the best single book available on that particular
list of topics.

There are biochemistry texts that describe the metabolic paths
how carbs, fat and protein get burned as fuel. These biochem
text can be learned to demonstrate simple facts like "a calorie
is a calorie is a calorie" is false but is nonetheless an
approximation that works anyways much of the time.

There are endocrinology books that discuss various hormones
but none that I've ever heard of that are anything like organized
for fat metabolism and fat loss. The problem is you need to
know which hormones are involved and how they interact
before knowing what books to chose and how to work their
information together.

There are books on digestion but few address it from a dieting
perspective - The good news here is the book "Fit for Life" and
its several follow-ons do discuss digestion from a dieting
perspective. How well based they are in science is a matter
of opinion. When I first read the found book "Fit for Life" it had
a lot of opinion not backed by science but in the decades since
follow-on editions have improved.
