Default The Visit With The Plastic Surgeon... WOW!

Now this is funny:

For the first time in my life I was told yesterday to continue eating
healthy, at least 100grams of protein a day, exercise but try not to
lose anymore weight. He knew about the WLS patients eating low carb
and I told him I live on chicken, fish, cottage cheese, and yogurt and
that its easy to consume the protein. OMG!!! How ironic! I have gone
from 410.7 pounds to " try not to lose anymore weight" I'm laughing
myself silly today but am also incredibly euphoric.

My surgeon who did my WLS said before I ever lost weight that he bet I
would have 30 pounds left to take off in plastic surgery ( stuff that
would not disappear). I have also pushed and pulled at my skin trying
to envision what I would look like after surgery and when I did it in
front of the doc yesterday asking him if I was going to look like this
his reply was "YES!" You guys I actually cried!!! He also told me that
the water filled leftover skin is tainted, it stunts proper metabolism,
once it is removed your body recognizes its gone, your metabolism will
kick in again and he said to expect an extra 15 pounds to drop off the
few months after the lower body lift. Oh My Gosh! Chances are high less
than 150lbs!!!

He noticed my face didn't sag and was quite surprised. I did mention
the turkey gobbler under my neck and I will also have it taken care of
at the same time. I told him I wasnt remotely interested in a face
lift or an incision near my jaw or ears. So this neck lift entails a
small incision in the crease under the chin, lipo suction, and
tightening the band there to draw the skin back up since the weight
seperated the band. KEWL HUH!!!

After the doctor visit my friend and I met up with my sweet Dad and we
took him to dinner. He was so shocked again to see me as I had lost 40
more pounds since he saw me last. He looked over the table at me and
said " I cant take my eyes of of you. You're so beautiful and I am so
proud of you" I bawled my eyes out!! I love my Dad. While I'm far from
beautiful it warmed my heart that my Dad thought so. HE hugged and
kissed be goodbye and then came back over and said " I have to hug you
one more time"

I cried today when Larry told me he just wants me to be happy and come
full circle.

So..... It's off to Mexico one more time for Thanksgiving and when I
return I will have surgery Dec 4th. In on Monday, out on Wed. I'm
warned the recovery is arduous but the immediate results though lumpy
bumpy and bruised will be significant in my case. They do everything to
eleviate the tremendous discomfort with leaving an epidural in the
whole day of surgery and giving you a catheter. The next morning you
get up to walk. They place 2 pain pumps in and they get left until your
doc office visit on Friday and they pull them and switch you to oral
medication. 3 drains are left in until they no longer produce fluid. I
have to admit. My mind is on tilt but I am so looking forward to the
new me!!! Just though I would share it with those of you who are
interested

Laureen,
What did the doctor say it was tainted with? I've never heard of this.

He said it was just stagnant old skin with water in it. He mentioned it
was poorly oxygenated skin and tissue and that it slows your metabolism
because it puts your body in the reserve mode because it senses
something isnt right. He then said once it is removed your body kicks
in with some weightloss because it doesnt feel it has to be in the
reserve mode. I dont fully understand it either and am going to do a
search on it. One thing that caused all the water in the first place
was I had my right ovary removed in 2001. They had a rough time getting
to it and getting it out. My lymph nodes got interrupted and stopped
draining right and it caused the fluid collection. It happened over a
one week period post op. The sad thing is once the lymph nodes stop
working and the water collects it just stays in the lowest part of the
body and can only be surgically removed. Weird huh??? I asked him if
the water in the tissue will be a hinderance to the 2 new sides of skin
melding together and sealing off and he said no because he is removing
the water filled tissue. He told em the water is deeper than the outer
thick layer of skin. If you find anything out about this please share
it. I am a bit ignorant with this issue too
Thanks, Laureen
