Fat Fast - does it really work?
On Page 272 of the Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution book, they start to talk
about the Fat Fast. This is where a person eats 1,000 calories a day, 90 pecent of which are from fat. Having fallen off the wagon while trying induction, I'm tempted to try this. Has anyone else done so? Did it work? Were you satiated? Did anything bad happen? |

The fat fast will work, but you will not be satiated. You need will power to
do the fast, so you probably won't make it. -- JC Lyle's New Ultimate Diet "1. eat less you fat **** 2. exercise more you fat ****" "Gary Rimar" wrote in message .com... Fat Fast - does it really work?
The fat fast works, as a stall buster, but remember that a stall is when
you stop losing weight when you *haven't been cheating* . It's disgusting and you really hate cream cheese by the end of it, and it takes a lot of will power. I'm not sure that it is intended to be used as an after cheat thing.... Jake -- My favorite animal is steak.--Fran Lebowitz |

Fat Fast - does it really work?
I was hoping more that it would be a "kick my butt" and get me restarted
again. I know why I fell off, and the initial cause has passed. I'm trying to get back on. I'm looking for a jumpstart. Thanks for the info. "Jake" wrote in message ... Fat Fast - does it really work?
From: "Gary Rimar"
I was hoping more that it would be a "kick my butt" and get me restarted again. I know why I fell off, and the initial cause has passed. I'm trying to get back on. I'm looking for a jumpstart. Thanks for the info. YMMV, but my suggestion for a "jumpstart" would be to keep it simple for a couple of days, nothing but plain portien fat & veggies. When I have been overeating or not being as careful as I should, c couple of days of hamburgers & salad usually get me right back on track. Robyn |

Having fallen off the wagon while trying induction, I'm tempted to try this. The fat fast is for people who do not get into ketosis by the end of Induction. Since you did not complete Induction, you are not qualified to do it. If you are looking for a kickstart, Induction IS *the* kickstart process. The first 5 days or so are tough then it starts to get easier. If you failed int he first 5 or so days try again. If you failed after those 5 days after it started getting easier, then you need to reevaluate exactly how much you want the plan, and start again when you want it. Sorry, but if you're looking to the fat fast as an easy way out that isn't it. Has anyone else done so? Folks who are qualified to do the fat fast are those who do not get into ketosis at 20. *Extremely* rare. Lots use it as a stall buster. While that's officially an abuse it does work. Again you never started so you don't fit in that group. Other than that some try it anyways. Did it work? Actually it goes by qualification. Folks who can't get into ketosis at 20 tend to get into ketosis and lose on the fat fast. Folks who use the fat fast to break a stall some work some don't. Folks who do ithe fat fast in spite of not being qualified tend to lose some water on it then gain that water back as soon as they return to 20. Were you satiated? No. Did anything bad happen? Dr Atkins specifically warns of the dangers. REmember that in normal ketosis the body self regulates to keep the ketone levels nontoxic, but the fat fast is intended to drive ketone levels as high as possible. It moves people in the direction of ketoacidosis. Also it's a low protein plan so it must not be done more than a week unless you are under constant direct medical supervision. |

Er, uh, I did under 20 grams of carbohydrates for well over a MONTH, and while I lost some weight I never got into ketosis. Then, while still maintaining that under 20 grams of carbs , I started to gain some of the weight back. I had not added in carbs at that point. Then, some stressors occurred in my life and I fell off the wagon. I'm trying to get back on. Thanks for your otherwise insightful post. Gary (at least I spelled it correctly) Rimar |
