Please no politics/Just information on curves
Dear Group,
I'm not very interested in the politics surrounding Curves and it's owner. I am interested if anyone here has had results by the thirty minute workout and if they have any more information I can look at. I looked at the Curves site already and would like further information from those who have gone. Thanks no insult intended. Just want information. Dianne |

Thanks Jayjay for the iformation.
I like that idea that it's for a beginner. Then you get to outgrow it too. That sounds neat. Thanks Dianne "Jayjay" wrote in message ... Dianne No problem Dianne, I don't blame you, I get turned off by all the political crap agendas people seem to have these days. As for Curves, i have no personal experience with them. Beverly, a frequent poster in the group, has been a member and I believe a few others have been too. What I've learned out of their posts is that curves is a great starting point for someone getting into a new exercise routine and learning a new way of life. The equipment is good for a circuit training full body workout for a beginner. What most people find is that after a period of about 6 months - 1yr, they've "outgrown" the curves machines and are looking for a full gym membership. For many the atmosphere of Curves is a great place to learn exercise in a "not so intimdating" environment. You learn good form and what to do. You lose weight and gain confidence in your workouts. In the end you outgrow curves, but have gained the confidence to join a regular gym that can be intimidating to a newbie type person. I can tell you for certain, if you don't exercise regularly now, and you join curves and put the effort in, you'll see a big difference in your body shape in 6 weeks time. But that will be the case for any similar exercise routine either at any gym or on your own. Hope this helps. |

Please no politics/Just information on curves
Hi Diane,
I've been going to Curves for almost a year and love it. I love the idea of being able to do 30 minute workouts as it's so easy for me to stop after work and get it done before I hit home. I often didn't get around to any exercise once I was home. In the first 3 months I lost 6 pounds and 12 inches. I didn't have a lot of weight to lose. I currently weigh 147 and would still like to lose a few more pounds and lower the body fat percentage a little more. I started as I've been diagnosed with osteopenia and wanted to start an exercise program to help save the bones. I've slacked off Curves a little since bike riding season is here but I still try to get there 1-2 times a week. After a year I'm thinking about switching to a regular gym but I'm not sure I'm willing to give up the convenience of the 30 minute workouts. I'll probably wait until fall to make this decision. I like the employees at my location and the other members are great. The members come in all ages, sizes and levels of fitness. You can tailor your workout to fit your level of fitness simply by applying more pressure when using the machines. This works great for me on those days my carpel tunnel makes it difficult to handle too much weight. I don't have to worry about dropping any weight on my toes if I lose my gripg If you have anymore specific questions - just ask. Sorry I didn't see the original post. I've been out shopping all day for a new bike G Beverly "Diane Nelson" wrote in message ... Dear Group, I'm not very interested in the politics surrounding Curves and it's owner. Please no politics/Just information on curves
Last night at dinner, I met a woman who is a member of curves. She really
enjoys it. She tells me she is a diabetic who has recently lost a lot of weight and has been able to come off of her insulin. And she is able to use her Curves membership when she travels. j "Diane Nelson" wrote in message ... Dear Group, I'm not very interested in the politics surrounding Curves and it's owner. It was a really good way to get back into a regular workout routine for me when I started going. I kept my membership nearly 2 years but found I did grow out of it. Plus, the facility in my town is not well run anymore *and* there was way too many women in there who were overly concerned with the personal lives of everyone else - small town mentality magnified. I'm seeing more and more former Curves clients at the gym. Jenn |

The overall number in the UK has mulitplied several times over since I first started looking a few months ago, but still nowhere I could get to within a reasonable time. Your comment about the women, Jenn, makes me remember one of the advantages of living in a big city janice |
