Default diet to go with workout?

I've been doing very well workingout everyday...I do Pilates in the
morning and either walk or run in the evening...
I'd been doing low carb but not feeling really healthy eating that-I
crave veggies and fruit and whole wheat.
Any good diet suggestions? i'm looking at maybe just calorie
restriction or a mediteranian diet but not sure. I want to do well but
I know that protein is important when working out to rebuilt muscles

I've never been a big fan of diets that restrict one or another food
groups. If you're craving veggies, fruits and whole wheat maybe it's
time to re-think your diet. Many in the group have been successful at
losing weight by simply counting calories without eliminating any food
group. Remember this is something you need to be able to stick with
the rest of your life.

I love Pilates! I think it's a great workout.

You can still eat fewer than 100g of carbs a day and eat fruit,
vegetables, and whole wheat foods.

Best for what? While it might be best to work different muscle groups
every other day -- upper body on day, lower body the next or weights
one, cardio the next -- I don't necessarily think that skipping workouts
half the days of the week is the best plan and I don't know that I've
ever seen that seriously recommended.

You can workout every day. Maybe you're thinking about not working the
same muscle groups every day?

I've had great success just counting calories. I do not eliminate any
food groups as I find that too restrictive. I eat healthy most of the
time. Now and again, I have cake, ice cream, lasagne, etc., just not
often and not a lot of it when I do.

Personally, I think it's better just to make sure you're eating
relatively healthy (fruits, veggies, drinking lots of water) than to
eliminate whole groups of food. That's just too hard to keep up over a
lifetime when you don't let yourself have carbs or whatever.

How many days a week you work out is dependant on a lot of things such
as age, general health, ability to do certain exercises, etc. I say
check with your doctor and he/she will tell you what will be best for you.

Kudos to you for working out at age 75! I know many people who use age
as an excuse not to go to the gym so rock on!

If you're doing a full body routine -- which I'm assuming since it
sounds like there's a single routine that you're repeating each time --
it makes sense to do it every other day. It's generally advised, as
jmk noted, to avoid working the same muscle group two days in a row --
though I know many people who do so with no ill effect, and to some
extent I do so myself. But I'd give you the same advice Krista did: a
good full body workout every other day -- or 3x/week -- is an excellent
approach to building/retaining strength and fitness.

And it's great that you're doing it at your age. Many younger people
would do well to follow your example!
