Default Food & Exercise -- 4/20/2006

Fairly typical Thursday -- work -- with a lunchtime run, then gym. It
was another gorgeous day, though kind of hot for April -- about 80.
It was a bit hot for running, since I'm not used to it yet.

Food:

* 8:00 (home): 2 poached eggs on 1 slice whole wheat toast w/ 3 slices
melted f/f cheese & 10g grated asiago
* 11:45 (work, from stash there): energy bar
* 1:45 (work, brought from home): sandwich w/ 100g Healthy Choice
roast beef & 2 slices f/f cheese on whole wheat hamburger bun
* 5:00 (driving to gym): 1 oz. mixed nuts
* 6:30 (gym, between lifting & yoga): orange
* 10:00 (home): turkey burger on whole wheat hamburger bun w/ 3 slices
f/f cheese, dill pickle slices, & catsup {I really do need to get out
of this rut sometime!}

Totals: 1441 calories, 53g fat (33%), 117g carbs (32%), 123g protein
(34%)

Exercise:

12:30 -- 3 mile run

5:30 -- Olympic lifting:

* Shoulder warmup
* With hollow bar: 10 overhead squats, 5 drop snatches, 5 classic
snatches
* Classic snatch: 1x3x15kg/33lbs (+ 2 misses); 3x3x17.5/38 (+ 1 miss)
{lack of practice lately was showing}
* Power clean & jerk -- sets of 3 cleans, 1 jerk: 3 sets at 25/55
* Clean pulls from the rack: 1x5x20/44; 1x5x35/77; 3x5x45/99
* Jerks from the front: 1x3x15/33; 1x3x20/44; 3x3x25/55
* Front squats: 1x3x25/55; 3x3x32.5/71.5

* Hanging from bar with underhand grip: 2 x (5 partial chins, 10 knee
raises, 10 side-to-side twists)
* Reverse hyperextensions: 1x50

7:15 -- 75 minute hatha yoga class

It was too hot for running here too. How do you cope with the warm weather?

Well, I don't really think it's that great to eat them every day :-).
They're just kind of my comfort food thing -- easy, and I like them a
lot. If DH and I don't eat dinner together (which we don't on my late
gym nights, or often other times -- like the last couple of days, when
he's had this stomach bug, or when we're just feeling lazy), I usually
just make one. I'll probably be eating them most nights for the next
two weeks while I'm in St. Louis on business. (I will take my little
George with me.)

Well, yesterday I just ran anyway. I got kind of hot, but it was
tolerable. I have a sort of "rule" that I won't run outdoors if it's
over 85, which it is much of the time here in the summer. (I live in
Virginia.)

I'm retiring at the end of July, and I'm thinking that that will make
it easier to go for a run early in the day, before it's too hot.
