Default Sleep deprivation can make you fat

That is a great article. I suffer from constant lack of sleep... I get 6-7
hours a night. Even on weekends, when I can sleep in, I can't!

I want to and need to sleep more... but I have issues with being able to
relax. I live wit allot of stress due to high pressure job. I wake up in
the middle of the night thinking about it. I can't change jobs. I like my
job for the most part. I just started at a new company 2 mos ago, and it is
the transition that is rough. You would think that after working out 5 days
a week and eating under 1200, I wouldn't have energy to stay awake... I
also have a hot tub that I soak in to help relax me.... That helps a little
but not much.

I normally average 7 hours during the work week but catch up on the

weekend.
If I have a night where I've slept less than 7 hours I certainly want to
grab for those quick sugar fixes the next afternoon to up my energy.

The links at the bottom of this article also contained some interesting
articles.

I would suggest yoga. It is a great exercise, but it is also relaxing.

There
are specific forms of yoga that use meditation and help to teach us to
relax.

I'm like you; I'm naturally hyper and needed to teach myself to relax.

It
works great.

I have a similar problem as PG, too much stress in my life. Yoga is the
only thing that's consistently helped me relax and sleep. If I get up in
the middle of the night and can't go back to sleep, I do some yoga and
meditation. It's really helped.

It's a really good idea to work with a class or instructor to begin and then
you can use videos too for those non-class days. There are positions I've
read about and tried but then I always run them past my teacher to see what
I'm doing wrong. You can really hurt yourself stretching too far or in the
wrong way. Does your health club offer yoga classes?

There are different forms of yoga. The specific one I'm thinking of is
called Asana yoga. Most classes teach Hatha yoga and that is more strenuous.
I was thinking of yoga in its more relaxing, meditative form. (Both are part
of Raja or Royal Yoga.)

If you are looking for something that will be more meditative, inner working
and relaxing, make sure you look for that type of class. Here, the *in*
thing is Bikram, which is anything but relaxing. It is fairly vigorous and
done in an extremely heated room.

It is worthwhile to read and find websites with more info. I have "Yoga for
Dummies" and I find it a really good source of information.

yes. they have a PiYo class... which is a combination between Pilates and
Yoga for all levels of fitness. I haven't taken an exercise class in 9
years. I am psyching myself up to taking it, as I get so self-conscious.
