Default Food & Exercise -- 7/15/2005

Worked at home today, then went to the gym in the late afternoon. Had
a sandwich in the gym cafe after my workout, then went to my wine
tasting group. Rather more calories than usual, both due to the wine
tasting and because I awoke so early that I sort of had one more meal
than usual. I'm not unhappy with what I ate though -- nothing
outrageous, just a larger quantity than average.

Food:

* 5:45 (home): 2 poached eggs on 1 slice whole wheat toast w/ 3 slices
melted f/f cheese & 10g grated Romano cheese
* 10:30 (home): 30g Great Grains cereal, 30g All Bran Bran Buds, 22g
whey protein, 1 cup skim milk
* 1:45 (home): turkey burger on whole wheat English muffin w/ 3 slices
f/f cheese, dill pickle slices, & catsup
* 6:45 (gym cafe): tuna sandwich on rye bread w/ lettuce & tomato
* 8:00 -- 10:00 (wine tasting): 8 oz. wine; 2 oz. assorted cheeses; 2
oz. hard salami; 12 cherries; 1/4 piece fudge

Totals: 2117 calories (151 from alcohol), 76g fat (32%), 168g carbs
(32%), 158g protein (30%)

Exercise:

5:00 -- Olympic lifting + cardio

* Shoulder warmups
* Power snatch: 1x5 w/ hollow bar; 1x3x15kg/33lbs; 3x2x20/44
* Clean pulls: 1x5x25/55; 1x4x35/77; 3x2x45/99
* Walking lunges w/ 30 lb. bar on my back: 4 x 20 steps {I was
supposed to do back squats but both cages were occupied with some
college shot putters doing interesting stuff.}
* Abs -- using a weird machine where you sit with your butt way back
in a seat and then raise your knees toward your chest -- 3x15 w/ 15
lbs. resistance

* Stair climber: 20 minutes, level 5, rolling hills program

Work was stressful today, and I found myself having the hard candies when I
really didn't plan for them or want them; I allowed myself, and just noticed
how the stress was affecting my urges to eat. Otherwise! What a glorious
day! How wonderful to ride my bike like this again! To work so hard out in
the garden! I already feel 10 years younger.

Food:
7:00 ½ honey wheat bagel w/ 1 teasp. butter, ½ grapefruit, 3 oz baked
sesame-honey tofu
10:30 ½ cup cottage cheese, ¼ cup non-fat yogurt
12:00 1 cup cantaloupe, 1 cup homemade chicken/barley/veggie soup
2:00 2 hard candies, ½ cup fruit salad no dressing
4:00 4 oz broccoli, 1.5 cup homemade chicken/barley/veggie soup, ½ honey
wheat bagel
7:00 2 cups salad w 2 oz baked tofu and w/ 2 tbls. fat free honey mustard
dressing
7:30 1/3 nestle crunch bar

Cal: 1487, Fat 31g (19%), Carbs 213 g (54%), Protein 100 g (26%)

Exercise/Aerobic activity: Fri = 1 hour vigorous bike ride, 1 hour hard
garden work

Weight training = Fri = off day

Sounds like you had a good day in spite of the stress. I found after I lost
the weight and started exercising that working in the yard didn't wear me
out as it had before I lost the weight. I also find riding the bike very
relaxing. I just wish I lived where the weather was a little more suitable
for year round riding.
