Um, really? Couldn't we rephrase that, "I don't value breakfast so I
don't bother to plan for it?" Which sort of translates to, "I pay so
little heed to my eating that I got fat."

Thus while at work, I would get a cinamon raisan bagel,
low fat cream cheese, and cranberry juice. But looking at the
calorie count, thats probably over 400 calories (and nearly $3.50
out of my pocket)!

And a pretty high dose of simple carbs, too. Those are refined flour
bagels. I eat 1/2 a whole wheat bagel with light cream cheese and
pieces of lox on top for breakfast most days. I can eat this in the car
as I drive. I also tend to eat whole wheat english muffins with
peanutbutter on them if I'm having to drive while eating. Another
option is a Myoplex Lite shake. Lately I've been having Cappacino Ice
with cold coffee. Yum.

During my diet competition, I skipped breakfast
but drank about 2 quarts of water. After the diet competition
ended, I started back having the bagel breakfast. Now I am trying
to stop, since I getting back addicted to them ;-) I know ppl
say skipping breakfast is bad, but drinking water helps..right?

No. I don't think you understand why skipping breakfast is bad. During
your competition what kind of weight did you lose, fat or lean body
mass? When you're shutting down your metabolism you feel less hungry
(more lethargic) but your body gets used to not being fed and just goes
into starvation mode, where it's more likely to burn energy from muscles
and store any food that comes in as fat. The reason you eat breakfast
is to keep your metabolism healthy.

You may not have any metabolic problems (yet), but I'd say you should
avoid getting them by eating a healthy balanced breakfast within a few
hours of getting up.

Isn't it good to excercise on an empty stomach?

It's neither good nor bad.

By lunch, I normally
would have walked about 3 miles at a fast pace. Let me add that
for lunch I tend to have a salad or sandwich.

So you wait until AFTER exercising at lunchtime to eat? That seems like
a good way to be catabolic on your muscle mass, i.e., I bet a high
percentage of your weight loss is coming from muscles rather than fat.
If I were you I'd aim to keep the muscle and lose the fat.

By the way, Patty Heil's idea of bringing cheerios to work is pretty
horrible. Some easily digested simpled carbs is NOT the way to go. How
about bringing some cottage cheese or a hard boiled egg?

You're going to hear from plenty as to why you shouldn't skip breakfast.
Let me instead question, what's wrong with 400 calories for breakfast?
Lunch is probably close to the same leaving over 1000 calories for
dinner, minus snacks of course.

You could switch from the bagel to a multigrain english muffin. That
will cut ~100 calories but you'll lose 11g carbs and 4g protein with
those calories.

Keep eating breakfast.

They say so for a reason. IIRC several studies have shown that you need
breakfast if you want to perform at your normal level and be succesful at
weight loss. Not eating breakfast can lead to cravings during the morning
and will probably result in you eating more lunch. Our digestive system is
optimized to small bits, so even if you eat a small breakfast and then
have a snack at work, you'd be doing better than having no breakfast.

I take no more than 5 minutes for my breakfast if I need to, although I
prefer to enjoy the time with my family and generally free an hour for it.

I prefer not to, as I get dizzy.
