grammar, etc.
My posts are pretty much just a free flow of thought. I speak much more
grammatically than I type out here. it's like a no big deal thing. I don't like to capitalize much either. so sometimes I do and sometimes I don't = } Lori |

Regardless /Irregardless ...........
well if we are venting out, I have to say that I hate it when people talk
about their own experiences/feelings as "you" Come'on people, It's your feelings so you should say "I" as in "I felt like....." or "when this happens, I feel that" got it? = ) -- Lori 220/150/135 LC since 1/17/03 Sept Challenge 155/150 http://community.webshots.com/user/lorismiller Back to Curves 6/30/03 |

That's it. It absolutely irritates me when someone does that in an interview. Oprah: So tell me Mr. Smith, how did it feel to get your side ripped open by a shark? 'I' at the tv) I don't mind that so much. Maybe it's because one of my favorite short stories as a kid was written in the second person. It was from the point of view of a pet cat who ends up killing its owner's abusive boyfriend. I can't remember the name of the story or the author, but it was really cool. Or maybe it's from all the role playing games in highschool: "You walk down the dark corridor, then all of a sudden a group of orcs jumps out and charges you!" When people tell stories in the second person, it somehow makes it feel more immediate and personal, I don't even notice that it's grammatically incorrect. -- -Michelle Levin (Luna) http://www.mindspring.com/~lunachick http://www.mindspring.com/~designbyluna |

What a great story for a kid... This is my cat, Tabby. See Tabby run. Run Tabby, run. This is my boyfriend, Johnny. See Johnny beat me up. Beat Johnny, beat. See Tabby rip out Johny's throat. Nice Tabby. Sheesh. What else did you read when you were a kid, Luna :-) Steve Hmm. Twilight Zone Magazine and Omni had some great short stories too, and I remember reading a lot of Judy Blume and Beverly Cleary. Oh! And "Choose Your Own Adventure" books were great. I read just about every science fiction book in the YA section of the library, until I started reading "classic" science fiction when I was 13, with _Stranger in a Strange Land_. -- -Michelle Levin (Luna) http://www.mindspring.com/~lunachick http://www.mindspring.com/~designbyluna |
